Folks I have been involved in stock car racing for years, my Dad drove some back in the 60's at Beech Bend and My wife and I have been at Beech Bend for years as the track photographer for Beech Bend and I have raced Front Runners,Bombers, Street Stock, Modified Street, Sportsman and Figure-8 but I have never seen a stock car wreck this bad. The blue and red car is the #17 of Front Runner Figure-8 points leader Tony Peak. The White car is that of #109 Rick Simpson of Portland, TN. The word in the pits was that Rick had said Tony spun him out during the Front Runner race (Round, not the eight) and that he (Rick) was going to finish it in the figure-8 race. So as the race was being ran Rick slowed and then when Tony was going through the X (crossing) toward turn one of the eight (Turn four of circle track) Rick was in turn two of the eight and you could hear the #109 of Rick floor the gas pedal and sure enough they hit in the X. Rick did the hitting with the front end of his car which has all the weight with the motor, transmission and all being in the front end of a front wheel drive car. Rick hit Tony in the passenger side about the door toward the rear and the blow actually cut Tony's car into. The rear of Tony's car went several yards toward turn three of the eight and toward the wall on the side of the fans in the stand. The half Tony was sitting in was close to the X and Tony was still in it, while Rick's car went toward the flag stand. Tony never moved inside the car as far as we could see. We later talked to the EMT's and was told he was knocked out for a while. They (the track crew) had to use two trucks (wrecker) to get Tony's car off the track. Tony did have some bruising on his neck and shoulder but said he was OK. Both Tony and Rick had a few words to each other in the pits and both said they would be back next Friday. I for one think the man up stairs was watching over Tony this night. I know that some of you out there have some harsh words for posting but remember keep it nice. "RENT A COPS" CAN'T TAKE YOU TO JAIL ANYWAY. THEY CAN CALL THE POLICE IN TO HAVE THEM TAKE YOU THOUGH. THAT IS BESIDES THE POINT. THE POINT IS THAT NO ONE SHOULD HAVE EVER DONE THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHEN I SEEN THAT THE WRECK HAPPENED ALL I COULD DO WAS THINK THAT THAT GUY WAS DEAD. IT IS SIMPLY BEYOND A MIRACLE THAT HE IS OK. IF THE #109 HAD THAT MUCH OF AN ISSUE BECAUSE HE GOT SPUN OUT TO DO THIS, I HOPE HE CAN GROW UP!!! IF SOMEONE BUMPED YOU ON THE ROAD WOULD YOU DESTORY THEIR CAR? WOULD YOU ACTUALLY PUT THEIR LIFE AND YOURS IN DANGER? I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT HE DOES THIS. DALLAS SHOULD NEVER ALLOW HIM BACK.
I am suprised that 109 took it to that extreme. I think he may have some serious issues. I hope that he realized he could have killed that man the way that car looked. I am just glad he didn't do that to my family that races because I would have hurt him before I could even think about what was going on.
#109 SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED BACK AT BBR FOR MAKING THE REMARKS HE DID ABOUT TAKING #17 OUT. HE ACTUALLY ALMOST KILLED THIS MAN BECAUSE HE GOT SPUN OUT!!!! IN MY OPINION THIS IS JUST THE SAME AS THE ORDEAL WITH BILLY WILLIAMS AND THE OTHERS INVOLVED EXCEPT THAT THERE WAS ONLY 1 CAR THIS TIME AND A DIFFERENT CLASS. IF THIS WERE TO HAVE BEEN A RACING ACCIDENT I WOULD UNDERSTAND MUCH NOT BEING DONE. THEY SAY THAT DALLAS JUST WALKED AWAY WHEN HE WAS ASKED WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS. THAT IS SAD! DALLAS, COULD YOU HAVE WALKED AWAY IF SOMEONE WOULD HAVE DIED? COME ON DALLAS, YOU VERY WELL THIS WAS NOT ANY RACING ACCIDENT. IF THIS TYPE OF STUFF CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, THE DRIVERS NEED TO "JUST WALK AWAY".

I KNOW HE ISN'T THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE DONE SOMETHING LIKE THIS BUT LET'S HOPE THAT DALLAS AND THE OTHERS AT BBR WILL DO SOMETHING TO PUT A STOP TO THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR AND THIS BE THE ONLY INCIDENT THAT ODELL WILL HAVE TO REPORT ABOUT UNLESS IT IS A RACING ACCIDENT.

I am just a fan, but I have family that races. I think Dallas is very capable of running the track, and does a great job at it. Disputes happen at all race tracks. Dallas has ran this track for many years, and he shouldn't be talked about so badly. If you were the track owner, you could never please everyone all the time.

I just got word today to see this post. When I read what was going on it turns this 'ole Hoosier'. This #109 is playing dirty and if someone gets hurt, let alone dead, hang on your hats for the fur will fly. I use to live in Bowling Green for awhile and I have some good friends. I sure hope before they start racing again that they shake hands and not come out fighting. If so 'WHOOP ASS TONY'.
It's not the 109 guys fault that the other car was not built well. All of this negative crap is the reason I don't visit this site that often.
To the anonymous that just posted, I'm sorry that you feel that way. There is some negative stuff on here, but there is alot of good things too. You should get on more if you feel that way so you can post your feeling. Either way I don't make a dime from you being on here or not, I just love racing and want to share all news and rumors with al the other drivers and fans. Hope you'll be back.

I AM SURE THAT 17 BUILT THE CAR TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY AND THOUGHT THAT HE WOULD BE SAFE AS HE COULD POSSIABLY BE. 17 PROBABLY DID NOT EXPECT TO BE "CUT IN HALF" OVER SOME SMALL RACING INCIDENT. Anonymous, you say that it was not the 109's fault what happened. I stood and watched the man in the staging lane try to fix his car and run his mouth saying that Tony was his and he was going to get him. He was so stupid acting, and trying to hurry and fix his car. He done that on purpose, and I don't care what you say. It's people like him that make BBR look trashy.

first of all,let me tell you who i am.
im the driver of the 109 car(the idiot,moron,man with issues).to reply to your comments,yes i fixed my car to get tony,yes i said i was going to get him,and yes i did it on purpose.but i guess all of you have forgot the fact that he hit me exactly the same way in the exact same place on my car in the x a month earlier and my car didnt break in two.leading up to that night tony had hit me several times before.however since then tony and i have spoke and we have shook hands,tony is a great guy and a good driver. to the comment about building a safe car,he said that car was put together with bailing wire and he wasnt done yet,so get your facts right first.second,tony also said he did push me that night and couldnt tell me why he did it.and last but not least,i didnt know his car would do that and yes it scared me to death.tony and i will not have any problems like this again because we both agree we didnt act like adults that night.especially me,im glad he's ok and i did apologize to him and his family and friends.as for the people in the stands that night,i apologize to you because that is not how i normaly drive.its easy to sit in the stands and say you wont do what i did,i dont think i'll ever do that again but at the same time i wont be spun intentionally by anybody without at least giving them a bump or two.again im glad tony is ok and that we have put this to bed between us and we can race again.
