POSTED 6/18/07 DRIVER OF THE #79 SPORTSMAN CAR, JAY PARRISH AND HIS WIFE
Pictured is the driver of the #79 sportsman car, Jay Parrish and his wife. They were at Santa Fe Restaurant to view the races from Friday night. For you fans that don't know Jay also ran the big race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY. This is a track that is a mile and half big. He ran this race which was in car's like our sportsman car. The average speeds was 130 M.P.H. They started around 70 or 80 cars and Jay finish around 30th, I think. His car over heated I think is what put him out of the race early. I think Jay represented Bowling Green racers well. Good Job Jay!

POSTED 6/16/07 BAD LUCK FOR SPORTSMAN DRIVER BRIAN CHERRY
Brian Cherry, driver of the #22 sportsman car and this years fastest qualifier, car broke. Talked to Brian and his Dad after the race and they said the transmission broke. The big story was, after Brian broke he pulled to the middle of the track and got out of his car to look under it to see what was broken and as he was on the ground with his head under his car during the race #79 driven by Jay Parrish lost control of his car and spun within about three foot or closer to the #22 car. If Jay had been a few feet closer and had hit the #22 car Brian may have been hurt really bad or even killed. I know Brian didn't think about what could have happen at that time. Racer's remember DO NOT GET OUT OF YOU CAR DURING A RACE it is the RULE also. I am very thankful that Brian did not get hit.
POSTED 6/16/07 WILLIAM JOHNSON DRIVER OF THE SPORTSMAN CAR #6 WAS DISQUALIFIED
William Johnson drove a hard fought race to take the victory, only to be found illegal after the race at the tech shed. Hearing that Bobby White checked top three cars for ride height which is to be 6 inches from the ground to the frame with the drive inside his/her car. I understand that Willie was out of his car and Bobby still could not get the devise under his car, and if the driver had been in the car it would have been even worse. Therefore resulting in being disqualified.
POSTED 6/16/07 WRECK IN FRONT RUNNER HOT LAP SESSION SENDS ONE DRIVER TO HOSPITAL
I did not see the incident that happened out on the track during hot lapping prior to qualifying. Driver of the #9 front runner, Shannon Carter, hit the wall during hot laps. I was at her car and the report that I received was that she hurt her back. I don't think it was too bad, but taken to the hospital to be checked out. The EMT's did call for the Fire Dept. to use the jaws of life to remove her from her race car. Her husband Bill Carter which drives a front runner also said that the #11 car (Matt Melton*) hit her and then hit her again the second time which stuck her into the wall.
NOTES: I did not talk to Matt Melton to get his story. ( * is to note Rookie Driver)

POSTED 6/14/07 BRIAN CHERRY WAS NOT ILLEGAL WITH HIS SWAY BAR ACCORDING TO TECH MAN BOBBY WHITE
Bobby White, Tech man for Beech Bend Raceway, called about comments that were placed on this site about Brian Cherry, driver of the #22 sportsman car. Comments posted saying that Brian was found illegal for a sway bar that was too big. Bobby said that was not the case, he was not found illegal. Bobby said that what he found was Brian's sway bar was OK on each end, but in the middle about 18 " or so was made to be very big. So it was NOT an illegal sway bar according to the rule book but Bobby said it was in the GRAY AREA, and he told Brian not to come back with it on the car. So that is the rest of the story, according to Bobby. Thanks for clearing this up, Bobby.
POSTED 6/14/07 BOBBY WHITE, TECH MAN AT BBR CLEARS UP THE RICKY DICKENS #28 CAR BEING LITE STORY.
Bobby White, Tech man for Beech Bend Raceway, called my house to clear up a incident. Bobby read some of your post on this site, and one was about Ricky Dickens driver of the #28 Figure-8 car. As you may very well already know, Ricky was disqualified Friday night for being 100 pounds lite after the race. Bobby said that earlier on, the scales had been weighting wrong but have been fixed. Bobby also said that 2 cars previously to Ricky weighted in and were OK on weight. So the scales were OK according to Bobby. Bobby also said that it is up to each driver to weight his car and know what it weights before going on the scales. Remember also, that if you are close on weight, don't forget about fuel burn off. Thanks Bobby for clearing this story up.
POSTED 6/14/07 LATE MODEL DRIVER BO MILLER #38 IS LEGAL ON HEIGHT ACCORDING TO BEECH BEND TECH MAN BOBBY WHITE
Bobby White, Tech. Man at Beech Bend, called my house Wednesday night. Bobby has read some of your comments on this site and called me to set the story straight. First there is the gossip of late model driver, Bo Miller. The word going around that Bo was caught illegal with the ride height of his car being to low to the ground. According to Bobby, Bo was never illegal with the height of his late model car. Bobby did say that it was close, but he could get the gauge in and out from his car. So there you have it from Tech. Man Bobby White, Bo Miller is legal on his ride height. Thanks for clearing that up Bobby!

POSTED 6/13/07 RICHARD "DOODLE" DICKENS AND ERIC "BUBBIO" JOHNSON ORDEAL!
Let me start by saying that Doodle and Bubbio are both friends of mine. For you that was not at Beech Bend test night, last night (Tuesday 6/12) to bring you up to speed with the gossip and story. This is what I either saw or was told, it may not all be right. I saw Doodle hit Bubbio and Bubbio hit the ground. Bubbio appeared to be knocked out. I saw his head hit the blacktop very hard. I was told that Doodle hit him from behind first, however I did not see that. I also was told that Bubbio and Ricky Dickens was having a few words, then Doodle hit Bubbio. I was not there and don't know. I was standing a few feet away. I did hear Doodle and Dennis "Zoomie" Oliver have some hard words for each other. Bubbio had a knot and cut with blood on the back of his head and I and other's tried to get him to go to the hospital to be checked out, but he didn't. I thought a lot about this last night and today, as to post or not. I have had calls about this ordeal. After a lot of thought, decided to make my comments. Racers and Fans let me share this with you. I start this site because I love stock car racing and wanted to help promote racing and YOU the driver along with your sponsor's. Get more people to come to Beech Bend, Highland Rim and etc.. to watch YOU race. I DO NOT PROMOTE things like this, but report news as it happens off and on the track. I know that fans come to watch cars race and also love to see a driver or two get into it with one another. But there has to be a line to be drawn. I hope Doodle and Bubbio don't get mad at me for this story and hope that the comments you all post are sensible. Last let me share this story, which by the way is true. Back a few years ago a racer and very good friend of mine, got mad at a man that he competed with each week. They had words then it came to fist fling. My friend Joe hit this guy and he fell to the ground (Much like Bubbio did) and he hit his head. The blow from the fist didn't do that much damage but the unexpected blacktop almost killed the man, long story short, Joe the racer got 5 years in jail. DO YOU WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOU? I think not! We as racers need to learn to stop take a deep breath and count to 10 before we react. It takes a bigger man to walk away than to succumb to fighting! I am disappointed in you guys, but are still your friend. Let's make racing and enjoy it. Yours truly, Odell Turner (Blogger, Racer and Fan)
POSTED 6/13/07 DALE EARNHARDT NEWS
Dale Earnhardt Jr. to drive for Hendrick in 2008: announced via live on TV, Dale Earnhardt Jr., current driver of the #8 Budweiser Chevy for DEI, will drive for Hendrick Motorsports starting in 2008. Dale Jr. started the press conference with a short speach/explanation, then introduced his new team owner Rick Hendrick and unveiled the Hendrick Motorsports logo. One thing noticed...the biggest smile ever seen on Dale Jr.'s face.Hendrick was asked about having a full stable of drivers, Hendrick immediately brought up Kyle Busch and working on a contract extension, that Busch was talking to other teams, Hendrick said conversations with Busch led both to realize it would be better for Busch to look at his other opportunities and part ways, but that Busch would run the #5 Chevy for the remainder of the season. As for a car number and sponsor for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Hendrick said none of that has been finalized as of yet. (TV Coverage of the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Press Conference, transcript will be available later and posted)(6-13-2007)

POSTED 6/11/07 ONE OF THE BIG STORIES FROM FRIDAY NIGHT 6/8/07 WAS ABOUT FIGURE-8 DRIVER RICKY "THE WING MAN" DICKENS!
Let me start off by saying, I am only writing about what I hear and see. These stories may not always be true or false. I just happen to be pitted beside Ricky Friday night and when Ricky came back to his pits he was HOT! According to Ricky he was told at some point to add weight to his car and he done so. After finishing 3rd Friday night Beech Bend officials decide to weight the figure-8 cars. Ricky was 104 pounds light. He says that there is NO WAY! When his car was weighted before it was only 20 pounds light, and then Ricky added weight. So Ricky finished 3rd but got out back to last for a light car. Either way, Ricky has said he would add more weight and come back and try to put on a very good show. My support goes out to you Ricky "The Wing Man"! Good luck to you and all the figure-8 drivers!

One of the big stories at the track Friday night was about the return of #33 Jerry Hendrixson Jr. Some fans and drivers were very shocked to see him back at the Bend after the incident on the track last year. Also many people have called my house, email me and ask are Billy William of Tennessee coming back? And is Jr. Henson coming back? Is Jerry's brother-in-law the #38 coming back? The answer is yes, they have been okayed to come back. I talked to Track owner Dallas Jones and he said this to me, If you committed a crime and went to prison and paid your debt and then got out and try to live a normal life, you should be able too! So these guys have paid a price of not getting to race and Dallas feels that they need to get a second chance. Good Luck Racers!
