ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (February 27, 2009) – Over 40 cars are expected to invade the Rockingham Speedway for their first taste of the historic one-mile track when practice begins for the UARA-Stars Late Model Series on Monday March 2nd.
The test will allow the teams to get valuable experience at the track in preparation for their first race at ‘The Rock’ which is just a few short weeks away on April 18th. The UARA Series will race the same weekend as the Carolina 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series event and fans coming to the race will also get to see ARCA practice and qualifying on the same day.
The UARA-Stars run a Late Model Stock car weighting 3100 lbs. with V-8 engines having over 450 horsepower and a 390 four barrel carburetor. The 70-lap feature will bring not only the regular UARA-Stars competitors but it is also expected to bring many Late Model drivers from local short tracks.
Fans will be admitted to the grandstands for free during Monday’s open test session with practice beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude at 4:00 p.m.
“This is such a great series and I was very impressed when they came out to test here,” said Rockingham Speedway President, Andy Hillenburg. “We are very excited to have the UARA-Stars here and to put on a great Late Model race at Rockingham and it gives so many racers the opportunity to race at this historic facility.”
Carolina 200 race weekend kicks off on Friday April 17th with Thunderfest in downtown Rockingham from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. There will be a hauler parade through downtown Rockingham at noon on Friday for the day-long celebration as well as most of the drivers signing autographs at 6:00 p.m.
On track activities begin Friday as well with UARA practice and qualifying. Saturday April 18th will feature the UARA race and practice and qualifying for the ARCA cars. The Carolina 200 is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday April 19th.
Reserved seat tickets for the Carolina 200 start at $20 with kids 12 and under admitted for only $15 in any section with paid adult. Tickets for Saturday April 18th are only $15 in advance or $20 the day of the race with kids 12 and under free with a paid adult for general admission seating. Friday is free admission for everyone.
For more information about the UARA open test and the upcoming Carolina 200 or to order tickets, please contact the speedway at (910) 205-8800 or visit our website at www.rockinghamspeedway.com.

POSTED 12-1-08 RULES MEETING TONIGHT AT BEECH BEND RACEWAY FOR LATE MODEL ARE....
Ride Height lowered to 3" like Highland Rim Speedway. New tire will be the 1070, but the rules will read 1070 or 1080. Create Engines 400 HP Heads, NO 475 HP HEADS! The rules stand as open for change if you run then maybe a 2 bl. or 100 pounds. If you port and polish your heads then add 50 pounds. On a protest both cars MUST tear down (Even Create Engines) There was talk of Dallas contacting Fisher about sealing a create engine. Bobby White has the spec's for a create engine. You don't have to seal your create engine back to run at Beech Bend. You can change retainers (NOT VALVE SPRINGS) on create engines. Dallas may get the seal's to reseal an engine. Dallas said he would wait and see what Highland Rim Rules are in writing and then he would print ours. Nothing else will change, so refer to 2008 rules book for more. I hope I got all this right. If there are more or these facts are not right please post on the comment section or email me at kyjava1997@bellsouth.net thanks, Odell NOTE: Protest for top end is now $400 and bottom end is $400 for the entire engine it will be $800
