ATTENTION TO ALL MY READERS!

It was brought to my attention about another site. This site is about many different things.  However, someone has made a couple of threads (comments) about local racing.  It has made it look as if I made a post. I have never and will never make a post on that site.  The site I am talking about uses some very nasty language and things not even related to racing about people's personal life's.  I try very hard to keep this site respectful.  It sounds like someone is very jealous of this site.  To all the our readers, thanks for stopping by to view our stories.  Oh, before I close, thank you Bobbie Stancil and Edith Fish for bringing this to my attention.

  TWO RECORDS SET THIS WEEK!

Trying a NEW way to report the racing news and rumors.

Hello, racers, fans, sponsors and track owners.  I have tried very hard to be fair and balanced in my reporting. However, I keep getting drilled by drivers and fans.  I do this site to help promote local racing and local drivers.  One thing I can't control is what you guys and girls do on the track or pits.  I am only one person with only one set of eyes covering a .333 mile track and very large pit area.  I don't always see everything and I'm not always correct on my reports.  It is only my opinion in some cases.  I don't own or sponsor any car or driver and have NO favors.  I do love racing and I love doing this site.  I am not going to quit!  So, with that being said, I am going to let the fans, drivers, sponsors and etc. make comments about what they see and think about you the driver. So you get more than one opinion.  If you don't like what is being said you have two options, post your story or don't log on to this site.  I tried reporting myself and cutting back on the comments, but it isn't working. Now we will try this new way of reporting.  (I do have the right to post your comment or delete it.) Below I have a few wrecks and talked about events for you to comment on. Thanks for stopping by my site. Odell

For a very special person!

Ten years ago tomorrow (8-20-10), we lost a very important person to our racing community.  To the Melton family, we want you to know, Marsha will never be forgotten.  Cancer took her away.  She was a very devoted track photographer to Beech Bend Raceway Park.  No one loved racing or her family anymore than she did.  Rest in peace Marsha.  You are missed!

What happen to Mark Oliver?

Photo Courtesy of PBO Media Productions

Mark took a very wild ride.  I talked to Mark and he didn't know what happened.  He did say he thought something broke on his car.  At my angle which was in turn one and two it looked like Mark turned slightly into Danny Smith.  Danny hooked Mark sending him into the outside wall hard.  Mark wasn't mad, so that tells me it must not have been Danny Smith's fault.  Hope your feeling OK Mark.  Good luck on the repairs to your car.

My Hard Charger Award goes to...........

Daymond Long #28 Sportsman Class
Daymond started back racing a couple years ago after being away from the oval track for years.  Stock Car racing had advanced ahead of Daymond while being away.  When Daymond got back in his car he was way off and had to work very hard to make changes.  Now, Daymond has had some seconds that looked like he was about to get his first victory.  Let me say this, Daymond won many races back in the day, so he is a winner.  Back to the story, as to why I named him the "HARD CHARGER".  He ran many number of laps all the way to the end of the race in second.  He was chasing down a very good and well known driver, Beau Mitchell of Owensboro, Ky.  The thing that impressed me the most with Daymond was how hard he raced.  First he sailed his car off into turn three a car and half deeper than anyone else.  Then hit wore the rear end of the #1 car out.  Daymond did what most driver don't do, He hit Mitchell hard but square.  Hitting another car is racing on the short tracks, but there is a good clean way to do it.  Coming out of a turn is correct and Daymond do so.  Hitting the other cars bumper square and not at an angle, which Daymond did.  Hitting another car at an angle causes them to spin and wreck.  Beau said in his interview at victory lane, he loved the hard racing and that he thanked the other drivers for racing hard but clean!  In closing, a former great driver once told me this, "Sometimes it's more classy for a driver to finish second than to win"  the late Wade Johnson.  Daymond you was a class act.  Your win is coming!  Congratulations on your award for "HARD CHARGER"

Driver will be back!

Joe Reynolds driver of the #84 Sportsman car was not at the races Friday night.  My source say the car was not ready, but will be back this coming Friday night.  See you then Joe!

Sanders dominates field to take victory at KMS

By Rob Spires/ Ken Ten PR

Whitesville, Ken., (July 31)- With the exception of NASCAR star Darrell Waltrip, perhaps no one knows their way around the quick 3/8 mile Kentucky Motor Speedway better than Sammy Sanders. Sanders put that knowledge to good use Saturday night as he drove away from the competition to take a dominating victory in the Ken Ten Pro Late Model 100 lap race.

Sanders, from Bowling Green, Ken., was the fast qualifier, and drew a two in the redraw. This put him on the outside of Brentwood, Tenn., driver Mason Mingus. At the green flag, Mingus was able to get the jump on Sanders and moved out to the lead, while Sanders fell in behind.

“Mason got a good run at the start,” said Sanders. “We were a little tight on low air pressure, so we just wanted to ride for a little bit.”

Sanders, racing with new sponsorship from Culver’s Frozen Custard and Butterburgers, got his opportunity to make a move a few laps later. After a caution for a crash involving Kraig Hall and Hunter Willis, Sanders was able to work the outside line on the restart to get around Mingus and take the lead. From there it was smooth sailing.

“We did what we could, but Sammy just had better bite off of the corners,” said Mingus. “We’re chasing the championship, so once I realized I couldn’t catch Sammy, we were just riding and making sure we held onto second.”

“Billy Russell tuned our motor, and it’s really driver friendly,” said Sanders. “It’s really easy to put the power down coming out of the corner. Also, we have a good exhaust package with Headman Hustler headers, and that’s an often overlooked area that can help gain horsepower.”

The race was only slowed once more for a caution when Eric Centers made contact with the wall on the frontstretch. Sanders had no problems on the final restart and pulled away to take the easy victory. In all, Sanders led 90 of the 100 laps.

“I didn’t want to see that last caution,” Sanders said. “Mason raced me clean, though. He earned a lot of respect from me tonight.”

Sanders uses AR Bodies, Pro Machine motors, Headman Hustler headers, and Butterburgers by Culvers.

The next event on the Ken Ten schedule marks a return to Corbin Speedway. Roger Parker won the season-opening race at the track in the series’ last visit to the tight quarter-mile. The action is sure to be intense as always!
