ACCIDENT CLAIMS THE LIFE OF LOCAL DRAG RACER

PHOTOS COURTESY OF MUSIC CITY RACEWAY

It is with a heavy heart that we report on this news story.  According to information from different people, a young drag racer lost his life Saturday night at Music City Raceway.  I do not have confirmation from officials at Music City Speedway about this incident.  I was told by other racers, that this accident did not happen on the track.  According to other racers it happened in the pits.  I was told the young man was from Nashsville, TN.  Racers and fans are one big family and we have lost one of our own.  For all the local racers and fans I would say to the family and Music City Raceway, May God be with you in this time of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
NEW UPDATE - STORY COURTESY OF WKRN
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – A local racer died in an accident at a Goodlettsville racetrack over the weekend.
Metro police said the man was unloading a racing truck at the Music City Raceway Saturday night when one of the tie-down supports broke, and he was pinned between the truck and a tree.
He later died from his injuries.
The victim's name is Chad Lybarger, according to MusicCityRaceway.com.
Friends Rick and Charlotte Gonzalez posted a statement on the Web site, saying, "Chad enjoyed racing and being with racers more than anything else in the world and thrived around the racetrack."
The statement also mentioned how he will be dearly missed.
"Those around him cherished his personality and smiled when just being around him.  His passion and emotion was with him in everything he did.  He loved everything.  He told you so, and he will be missed."
His friends explained how Lybarger's car was nicknamed "Triple Cheese."
"His big yellow Nova got the name ‘Cheese,' and when he raced with cheeseburgers in his car, he got the name ‘Triple Cheese' - and it stuck."
A fund has been set up by those at the racetrack with proceeds going to help Lybarger's family to help cover funeral expenses.
Contributions will be taken up at the racetrack on Ivy Point Road in Goodlettsville through Tuesday.
Visitation is scheduled Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Austin and Bell Funeral Home, located at 533 Highway 76 in White House.
The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.

Through the rain and storms, the concert was a great show.  We had a great time and heard some great music.  Melissa Richards sang some old songs of Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr. and more.  Billy Dean sang his hits.  He said that because of the rain and these fans came out he was going to do the very best he could do.  And he sure did that.  One of the best concerts at Beech Bend with WGGC, in my opinion.  Good job Beech Bend and WGGC (Sponsors: Crossroad Markets, Thompson Trophies, and US Bank.)
