Richard "Doodle" Dickens wins the Figure-8 race. But after taking the checker flag, and then going to the tech shed, he was 5 pounds light on weight. So, the win goes to Tommy Lawrence #3. As, to the history that I have been able to dig up on Beech Bend Raceway, Tommy was the first African American to win a race at Beech Bend. Congratulations to Tommy Lawrence.
