POSTED 9-16-07 BEECH BEND PLANS BRIGHT CHRISTMAS

Amusement park will offer lighted display, ice skating. Beech Bend Park owner Dallas Jones is hoping to provide a little holiday cheer for southcentral Kentucky with Christmas Lights Spectacular he has planned for the amusement park. Jones said the event is excepted to kick off Thanksgiving night and will run until Jan. 5. That opening date isn't set in stone. Plans to be open Christmas Day and New Year's will depend on finding help. Dallas said that putting on the spectacular was something the family decided it wanted to do. We visited four parks in Pennsylvania and they all had light displays, Dallas said. A professional lighting company that has done such spectacles in Hershey Park, Penn. and Branson, Mo., will install the 109 displays that will include 480 lighted pieces. You will be able to drive your own car and listen to information and Christmas music on a FM radio then hop on the Polar Express train that will take them to Santa's Village, where there will be a 40-feet by 80-feet outdoor movie screen that will feature Christmas movies. Miniature golf will be open, as will the Kentucky Rumbler roller coaster and a few other rides. Admission will be $15 a car load $25 for a commercial van and $100 for a bus. That fee includes movies, golf and Santa's petting farm. Skating will be an additional $7 for adults and $5 for children. Those who don't have their own skates can rent them for $3

POSTED 9-16-07 A COMMENT FROM A FRONT RUNNER DRIVER (#109 RICK SIMPSON)

rick has left a new comment on your post "POSTED 7/21/07 BEECH BEND RACEWAY'S FRONT RUNNER ...": first of all,let me tell you who i am.im the driver of the 109 car(the idiot, moron, man with issues).to reply to your comments, yes i fixed my car to get tony, yes i said i was going to get him,and yes i did it on purpose.but i guess all of you have forgot the fact that he hit me exactly the same way in the exact same place on my car in the x a month earlier and my car didnt break in two.leading up to that night tony had hit me several times before.however since then tony and i have spoke and we have shook hands, tony is a great guy and a good driver. to the comment about building a safe car,he said that car was put together with bailing wire and he wasnt done yet,so get your facts right first.second, tony also said he did push me that night and couldnt tell me why he did it.and last but not least,i didnt know his car would do that and yes it scared me to death.tony and i will not have any problems like this again because we both agree we didnt act like adults that night.especially me,im glad he's ok and i did apologize to him and his family and friends.as for the people in the stands that night,i apologize to you because that is not how i normaly drive.its easy to sit in the stands and say you wont do what i did,i dont think i'll ever do that again but at the same time i wont be spun intentionally by anybody without at least giving them a bump or two.again im glad tony is ok and that we have put this to bed between us and we can race again. FIRST LET ME SAY, RICK NEVER ASK ME TO POST THIS COMMENT. I READ THIS AND IT WAS MADE TONIGHT 9-16-07 BUT HE COMMENTED UNDER AN OLD POST BACK IN JULY. I WAS AFRAID THAT MANY OF YOU WOULD NOT LOOK BACK THAT FAR. I KNOW RICK, BUT NOT VERY WELL, JUST BASICALLY WHEN I SEE HIM. I HAVE RACED OFF AND ON FOR YEARS AND HAVE BEEN MAD OR INTO IT WITH A RACER OR TWO. LET ME SAY THIS AND IT IS JUST MY OPINION BUT RICK AS FAR AS I SEE IT YOU ARE A VERY BIG MAN BY SAYING THAT YOU ARE SORRY. YOU HAVE MY RESPECT NOT THAT I AM ANYONE OR THAT YOU NEED MY RESPECT. I ALSO KNOW THAT BY YOU SAYING THIS, IS NO WAY AN INDICATION THAT IF SOMEONE ROUGHS YOU UP THAT YOU ARE GOING TO JUST LET THEM RUN OVER YOU. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO ALL YOU DRIVERS AND FANS TO LEAVE A COMMENT TO RICK AND TOLD HIM THANKS FOR BEING A REAL MAN. ODELL

POSTED 9-15-07 MARK OLIVER WINS LATE MODEL RACE AT BEECH BEND

Mark Oliver #25 wins the late model race. Mark led all 30 laps. As I stated last week, I ran a poll question that said, Could anyone beat Bo Miller with three race to go? Well last week Tommy Climer won and this week Mark look impressive and wins. Bo did have to start in the rear. I don't know why he did but was told that he had to start in the rear because he was a full second faster that any other car in his class at qualifying. But Bo usually comes from the back and still wins. Is something wrong with Bo's car? or is other drivers just stepping up to the plate? I think that the other drivers have seen that if they slow down and hold their line on the inside and make Bo go on the outside they have a better chance to win. Coming out of turn four Tommy and Mark would slow and hold the car low and tight to the inside and Bo could not get under them as he has done all year. That is what I saw and this is only my opinion. So let's see will Bo win the last race or will some one new win? This is a fun race to watch as of late. Good job, Mark!

POSTED 9-15-07 TONY ROTHE WINS MODIFIED STREET RACE AT BEECH BEND

Tony Rothe #44 takes the win in the modified Street race. Tony also gets a big break when points leader Anthony Russell #48 blows his engine on lap 11. Tony gains 8 points on Anthony. Let me say I know kinda how sick Anthony must feel because I blew my engine earlier this year, but with the points championship on the line must give more of a sick feeling. I was told that Bubbio is letting Anthony use his motor for the last night. So guys with Anthony having a 4 point lead going into the last night and you all having twin races this should be the best class to watch. You both have drove your butts of and may you all drive hard, tough and rough, but fair and clean. Good luck to you both. Remember to show class however it turns out.

POSTED 9-14-07 BEECH BEND PARK HAS GREAT EMPLOYEES!

This picture is Left to Right, 2007 Miss Beech and 2007 Miss Bend. They sure are cute! Seriously, left is Pat Trowbridge and she has been working at Beech Bend for many years. Pat is over the concession stands in the park and at the race tracks. So every time you get a cold drink or hot dog, it is because Pat does a wonderful job over seeing the stands. Right is Venida Baker, She has been at Beech for a long time too! Venida sells you your car numbers and takes your tech cards. She has worked on the points and always been there to answer your questions about points and etc.. I go another step farther, I deal with them both as a customer and would like to take this time to thank them both for being so kind. I think they should both share the title of Miss Beech Bend. Again thanks from me and and the other racers at Beech Bend Raceway.

POSTED 9-8-07 KEVIN DICKENS GETS A GOOD FINISH

Kevin Dickens gets a second place finish in the Figure-8 race Friday Night. I think this was Kevin's best finish this year. Good Job, Kevin!

POSTED 9-8-07 A NEW KING IN TOWN?

The best race of the night, no I should say the best race of the season. Years ago there was a racer that came out of Tennessee carrying the number 55 and was loved by a few but hated by others. Why? Because he won a lot of races and drove how ever he had too for the win. He was nicknamed the KING. Yes, James "THE KING" Climer. Well, the old saying goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, is right. James might get mad at me if he reads this but I will say it anyway, move over KING, there is a new KING in town. Last week I ran a poll which ask, will anyone beat Bo Miller with three races left? And more of you said no one could beat Bo Miller and his #38 machine. Tommy Climer comes in here out of Tennessee and proved that Bo can be beat at Beech Bend Raceway. Bo Miller is one of the best drivers to ever pull onto the flat track of Beech Bend Raceway and you can't take that away from him. And with this lost it doesn't say anything bad about Bo. On the other hand, Tommy didn't have the fastest car on the track. Tommy was all up on the wheel. He drove his race and refused to let Bo get in his head. Tommy held his line and would not be moved. One of the most impressive drives that I have had the chance to witness. Bo got into Tommy a couple of times and Tommy never backed out. One other thing, did you hear the fans in the stands? They cheered and clapped for Tommy like he was really the KING. Oh well, at least Tommy showed that you can live life as you dream and at least be KING for a night. I also think Tommy was very much a gentleman as he gave God thanks first and foremost for his safe race and win. Tommy welcome back to Beech Bend Raceway you showed class.

POSTED 9-8-07 JOSH BYRNS A OUTSTANDING YOUNG MAN

Josh Byrns #31 late model driver finishes third Friday night. Josh is one of the most laid back cool head young driver in this area. I think Josh has a great future ahead for him. Even if Josh never goes very far in racing he has one of the best personalities that I have seen in years and I think Josh would make someone a very good employee. It is hard to find this kind of young men in this day and time. Keep your head up Josh. By the way I think Josh could go big time racing with more seat time and being in the right spot at the right time. This is my opinion and others may or may not agree. Good Luck Josh in what ever comes your way in life.

POSTED 9-1-07 RUSSELL-ROTHE BATTLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The points battle heats up in the modified street class. Going into this Friday's race #48 Anthony Russell had a one point lead in the championship points standings. But Friday night got ruff between first place in points Anthony and second place #44 Tony Rothe. I ask several fans what they saw and I got a lot of different opinion's. One was that Tony started it by blocking and carrying Anthony down to the inside of the track, other's said Tony was only trying to hold his line. Others said Anthony was driving way too ruff spinning #44 two times. I have no ties or money in either car and this is only my opinion. I didn't see Tony block or do anything other than hold his line. I did see Anthony in turn four get into the back of Tony coming off turn four and hit Tony getting him way side ways and never backing off the throttle and just kept the #44 going side ways to take the lead but was put to the back with the #44. And on the last lap after Anthony had spun Tony twice and made both of them go to the back, the last lap with Anthony in the rear of Tony he bump #44 again and got him somewhat out of shape and then from where I stood which was by where they come off the track it look like Anthony again laid into Tony and kinda bulldozer his way up to the side of #44 and then it did like like Tony said enough and cut left into Anthony, so that Tony could hold on to the position. Now men I don't what you guys to get mad at me because this is just my opinion and I have that right. I also know that as a driver that things are different out on the track than we the fan see. Plus hey this is a tough battle for a championship and it should be wild. Go luck to both of you guys, Tony and Anthony!

POSTED 9-1-07 MASON, OLIVER, AND GREEN HIT IN THE X (CROSSING) DURING THE FIGURE-8 RACE

Wreck in the X (crossing) collects three cars. The #M1 of Mike Mason (Pictured first) shows how he took most of the hit almost in the drivers side door. The #34 of Dennis "Zoomie" Oliver (Pictured second) shows he took his hit in the front end, down the passenger side and in the passenger rear side. The #60 of Wayne Green Jr. (Pictured Third) took most of his hit in the driver side rear wheel. Wayne Green Jr. was leading the race and was looking good out there. But Wayne got caught up in the wreck as he was going through the X as Mike Mason and Zoomie Oliver hit. Mike and Zoomie has had a battle going on all year and track owner Dallas Jones had a meeting with them to say, Guys if you keep taking each other out and fighting you would be barred for the rest of the year. But last night it took place in the X where there is NO STOP SIGNS and who is to say which driver has to BRAKE! Another words if you are going to wreck each other it needs to be in the X. Now another word some say it was miss judgement on the part of the three driver and their timing was off. But some say it was Pay back time. Which was it? I guess we will never really know. However I will say that the figure-8 race was one of the best races of the night taking out the wreck. Wayne jumped out quick for the lead, Doodle was back in the #85 jump on the gas quick at the start and hit his Uncle Ricky Dickens in the rear which tore up Doodle's front fender but he finished the race and as Ricky was spun out of the groove he started from the rear and then had that #28 on a rail coming fast to the front, knocking off one at a time until he was in second and closing in on Wayne Green, Jr. So it was a good fast and close race. Good Job Guys. By the way all driver walked away OK. Don't mess this Sunday's Figure-8, I think it will be something to see, if they all get there cars fixed or another car to drive. Good Luck Sunday!
