(June 4, 2009) – The drivers of the ASA Late Model Stock Car Series are invading the Rockingham Speedway Monday, June 8 in anticipation of the July 4 running of the Cheerwine Cherry Bomb 200. Cars hit the track at 10 AM for the first practice session and will run until 11:55. The afternoon session runs from 1 to 4 PM. The grandstands will be open to the public for the practice sessions free of charge. The Cheerwine Cherry Bomb 200 is a special double header race featuring the Kimmel Street Stock Series and the ASA Late Model Series. The ASA portion of the 200 will include 100 laps of racing for ‘America’s Premier Short Track Series.’ The ASA Late Model Series uses a crate engine, coil over shocks with a fiberglass body on the 2,700 lbs. cars. “I can’t put into words how excited I am,” said Ron Varney, ASA Late Model Series President. “To land an event at such a historic place is truly an honor and privilege few series get to experience.” Tickets for the Cheerwine Cherry Bomb 200 are $10 for adults with children under 12 admitted free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
