POSTED 11-24-08 INTERNATIONAL OUTLAW FIGURE-8 SERIES UPDATE

IOFS GETS DIRTY IN 2009Indianapolis, IN - November 19, 2008 - International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) officials announced today that the series plans to visit Montpelier Motor Speedway in 2009.The newly formed Outlaw Figure 8 series will be competing at the scenic Central Indiana 1/4 mile, slightly banked dirt oval three times in 2009. With this announcement the IOFS will now be competing on dirt as well as asphalt in 2009. If a driver is to become the inaugural IOFS champion they must prove to be extremely versatile."Montpelier Motor Speedway promoter, Tim Tygart, was looking for something radically different and I think we will fit his needs" IOFS series director Charlie Hargraves explains. "Although there isn't a Figure 8 course at the track yet one will be constructed in time for our 2009 visits. The way the track is to be constructed it should make for an incredible track. The track is going to be very wide with multiple grooves and I think very forgiving to some of our dirt beginners" stated Hargraves.Although dirt will be a new experience to many of the IOFS regulars these type of cars have competed on dirt Figure 8 tracks before. Between 1992 - 1994 the now defunct General Tire Figure 8 Challenge Series competed at a hand full of dirt venues in KY, IN, and TN. The cars adapted very well and made for great racing. But it hasn't been attempted since the last General Tire dirt race at Putnamville, IN on July 6, 1994 in an event won by Rick Fenwick.Once the race dates for the three Montpelier events are confirmed they will be posted on www.figure8news and on the soon to be launched official IOFS website.IOFS managing partner David Sink expressed his excitement with the announcement today." I really think this is what Outlaw Figure 8 racing needs to boost interest and attract new fans. I can’t wait to see our guys on the dirt". Sink also updated the progress of the 2009 IOFS schedule to date."There is going to be another huge announcement regarding our schedule and 2009 events in the next week or so as things are really starting to take shape and we should be able to release our full 2009 schedule with confirmed dates very shortly”.For more information or sponsorship opportunities contact Charlie Hargraves (317) 445 - 4366 or David Sink (765) 278- 8231Charlie Hargraves - charlie74p@aol.comDavid Sink - MRLITTLE500@aol.com

REST IN PEACE
__________________________________________________________________________
Last night at around 8:00 p.m. all of us Beech Bend Stock Car Driver lost a very special friend as Bill Slade took his very last lap with cancer. Bill fought a battle with cancer and was very brave. It all started, to the best of my knowledge around four years ago and then reoccurred again a few months ago. Bill had a last wish, it was to ride in a stock car around a track. Jay Parrish #79 took Bill for that last and only ride around the oval track of Beech Bend on a Monday evening. I believe that Bill is in a much better place now. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Slade family. May God bless and comfort you all is our prayer. From all the racers, race suppliers and race fans.

POSTED 11-3-08 NEWS OF A NEW FIGURE-8 SERIES TO START IN 2009

UPSTART IOFS UNVEILS EARLY DETAILS
Indianapolis, IN - October 30, 2008 - Officials from the International Outlaw Figure 8 Series ( IOFS ) today released early details on newly launched series. The touring Outlaw Figure 8 series is scheduled to debut in 2009 with a handful of events already scheduled as of this release.Headed by series director, Charlie Hargraves, and his managing partner, David Sink, the series will feature Late Model Figure 8 racing in an open competition 'run what ya brung’ format. The series is expected to be a five to ten race traveling series to run at select Figure 8 venues throughout the Midwest.Hargraves explained the reasoning for the purpose of the new traveling series. "There are a lot of great Figure 8 tracks throughout the Midwest that have never been exposed to our brand of Figure 8 racing and we hope to be able to offer promoters something uniquely different and radical. We have a few other ideas we would like to explore with these types of cars as well" explained Hargraves. Hargraves also pointed out the time was right. "When David (Sink) and I kicked the idea around to a few close friends there was instant excitement. From there things just kind of started coming together and we are well ahead of where I ever thought we would be at this point. Drivers and owners contact us almost daily wanting more info and offering support " Hargraves further explained. One of the ideas the IOFS would like to explore is the possibility of trying these types of cars on dirt. "We have had extensive discussions with several promotors about this possibility in the near future" Sink stated. Sink also was optimistic about the direction this series is headed. "Charlie and I have a real passion for this as we have been around racing our whole lives. We share a lot of the same ideas and we are on the same page as far as the direction we want the series to go in" insists Sink.To date negotiations continue with potential speedways and sponsors for the 2009 season. For inquires about sponsorship opportunities with the IOFS contact Charlie Hargraves at (317) 445-4366 or David Sink at (765) 278-8231.Details regarding tires, point fund, sponsors and other related issues will be made public in he near future. The series is working on the launch of its website but check http://www.figure8news.com for updates regarding IOFS until the website is up and running. Night of Thrills Entertains Huge Crowd on Saturday NightOne of the final big events of the racing season took place on Saturday Night, October 11, when the Night of Thrills presented by The Herald Bulletin was featured at Anderson Speedway. In the second season appearance of Wood’s Landscaping Outlaw Figure 8’s, Charlie Hargraves took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap feature. He paced the opening 13 circuits until he couldn’t avoid the slow machine of Jon Lord, which sent Hargraves to back of the lead lap cars. That moved Ben Tunney into the lead and he showed the way until lap 26, when RJ Norton moved around him after Tunney suffered a flat tire and he then spun a couple laps later. Tunney was able to restart on the tail of the lead lap cars. Once out front, Norton was able to pace the field until the final circuit when he tangled with a hard charging Ben Tunney, who gained two spots during the last three laps and then tried to go around Norton for the lead. After the two leaders crashed, Hargraves and Doug Greig battled it out for the win when they tangled and Hargraves was able to finish in first position with Greig second. Jessie Tunney was third followed by Jeff Shackleford and Norton. Danny Stanley was credited with the victory in a thrilling Pepsi School Bus Figure 8’s, in a race that was shortened two laps after the leaders were involved in an altercation. The race began with Mike Day taking the point and having several close calls while in the first position. Then on lap 10, while battling for the lead, Day and Basil Stanley made signification contact, eliminating both contenders from a shot at the victory. Day was disqualified for unsportsmanlike driving and third running Stanley benefited grabbing the race victory. Second went to Billy Hooten with Stanley in third spot. In the Roll Over Contest, Josh Walker took the victory among the 11 drivers that attempted the thrilling event. Walker scored 14 points after three successfully roll over attempts and on the third and final attempt scored a maximum of seven points to edge out Brandon Henry by one point. Third was Craig Enterkin with seven points. In the Powder Puff School Bus Figure 8’s, Bobby Jo Elliott led all six laps en route to the feature victory. Roxanne Grissom crossed the line in second position with Robin Burton, Teresa Dowden and Becky Stanley completing the top-five finishers. The Culvers Trailer Race provided lots of action as 19 competitors were scheduled to start the 10 lap event in the Figure 8 course. Darby Brown took the initial lead, but was only able to complete two laps. On the second go-around, Brown lost the lead to Ryan Parrett, but Parrett was unable to complete the second lap. This handed the first spot Jim Ashton, who paced the remaining eight circuits for the victory. Ashton was one of two competitors that completed all 10 laps. Second was Donald Carpenter with Nathan Burge, Nick Warner and Josh Walker completing the top five. In the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives Oval race, veteran Ronnie Phipps ended the recent domination of Nick Warner, who scored four victories during last weekend’s Stock Car Festival. In this 20-lap event, Warner sailed into first position and led the opening eight circuits with Phipps completing the race-winning pass with 12 laps remaining and then driving to the victory. Following the race winner were Warner, Ricky Tharp, Ron Phipps and Casey Davis. Ricky Tharp took top honors in the Cork Screw Race, leading all 10 laps. Chasing the race winner were Nick Warner with Harry LaShure in third position. Brandon Henry and Mike Alley rounded out the top five. In the final event of the evening, Larry Staats won the Demolition Derby. Other top performers included Ed Woodward and Kevin Rabenstein. Anderson Speedway concludes its 2008 racing season on Saturday, October 18th with the ThunderCar Enduro 200 and Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives showcased in the Ed Maynard 100 presented by Battery Masters and Great Deals. For additional information on Anderson Speedway, visit www.andersonspeedway.com or contact Anderson Speedway at (765) 642-0206. Huge Crowd for Figure 8 Madness on July 4th A huge crowd was on hand for Figure 8 Madness presented by Anderson/Madison County Visitors Bureau and Convention Center at Anderson Speedway on July 4th. The exciting racing program showcased Outlaw Figure 8’s, School Bus Figure 8’s, ImmediaDent Figure 8’s, Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s and Trailer Races. In the long awaited return of the Outlaw Figure 8’s, RJ Norton scored a flag-to-flag victory in the 50 lap event. Norton was chased for the entire race by Charley Hargraves, but proved to strong as he added another Outlaw Figure 8 victory at Anderson Speedway. Hargraves placed second with Doug Greig third, the final car to complete the full 50 lap distance. Fourth was Jeff Shackleford with Mark Harmon completing the top five. Greig and Donny Scurry were winners of heat races. Tony Grissom recorded a flag-to-flag victory to earn the winning hardware in the School Bus Figure 8’s. Mike Day finished in the second spot with Basil Stanley, Corey Elliott and Bobbi Jo Elliott filling out the top five. Scoring his second consecutive victory, Ronnie Phipps collected the victory in the ImmediaDent Figure 8’s. Ranny Hinton led the race for a good portion of the 25-lap event with Phipps driving around Hinton on the 15th circuit. At the finish, Phipps was followed by Ronnie Rose with Hinton crossing the line in third. The remainder of the top five included Jeff Swinford and Joe Hart. Heat race victories went to Swinford and Shawn Cullen. In the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s, former champion Nick Warner made another late race pass to score a second straight victory. Jerry Baker led the opening 12 circuits with Warner grabbing first position with thee laps remaining in the 15-lap race. Behind Warner and Baker at the finish were Randy Owen, Donnie Ellis Jr. and Andy Keller.Casey Smith won the thrilling Trailer Race on the Figure 8 course. Several close calls in the eight lap event took place and then the boat on Nathan Burgess’ trailer slid off his to the center off the cross over. Smith was able to dodge other competitors and other obstacles en route to the winner’s circle. Eric Blair made a late-race pass for runner-up honors. Nick Warner, Kurt Clevenger and Bill Keihn filled out the top five. POSTED 11-12-08 THE START OF THE FINAL RACES OF 2008

The last race of the 2008 season at Highland Rim Speedway is about to get started. Saturday night Nov. 1, 2008 Checkers the CLOWN is photographed here as he throws candy and Teddy Bears to the fans in turns three and four. Shown below is the American Flag being lifted to the air as the National Anthem is being sang to start the races.

POSTED 11-2-08 MICHAEL HOUSE WINS THE SPORTSMAN RACE AT THE RIM

Pictured here is #84 Michael House. Michael won the sportsman race at Highland Rim Speedway last night. As Michael pulled into victory lane I did here a lot of Boos from the fans in the stands. What is with that? Seems like a great driver. Has a sharp car. Can someone make a comment and explain.

POSTED 11-02-08 ACTION PACKED RACING AT THE RIM

Hey race fans! As I shoot photos at race tracks all over the area, it becomes work but as you can see here in these photos I get to see some wild action. Highland Rim Speedway had just that, WILD racing packed with plenty action. This guy fights the steering wheel all the way out of turn two and all the way down the back straight away to only come to rest on the turn three wall. Then this driver climbs out and makes it to the infield and drops to the ground. By the way, he did walk away on his on without injury.

POSTED 11-2-08 LATE MODEL 200 AT HIGHLAND RIM SPEEDWAY

DAVEY COBLE #14 #19 ???
CHAD WILLIS #99
I was at Highland Rim Speedway last night to shoot photos and report on the races. The 200 lap Late Model race was packed with action. First, Davey Coble #14 set the fast time and would have been on the pole but they had an invert of four. The race then started with #00 Michael House on the pole. Michael looked to have the field covered and on his way to victory lane. Bowling Green driver #31 Josh Byrns lost a tire and hit the wall to bring out the caution. On the restart, race leader #00 Michael House spins in turn one and backs it into the wall. Then #14 Davey Coble takes the lead and never looks back to claim the win. (Shown above) Winner #14 Davey Coble, Second place #19 and third was eighteen year old #99 Chad Willis of Bowling Green, KY. Chad was in second with only a few laps to go but on a restart he got jumped by the #19. Bowling Green, KY. drives to start the race were as follows, #22 Brian Cherry, #9 Tony Willis, #12 Sammy Sanders and #31 Josh Byrns. Congratulations to Chad Willis #99 with his third place finish.
