POSTED 9-20-08 THE BIG STORY OF 2008, AND BO MILLER HANGS ON TO WIN THE 2008 LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP

What was really going on at Beech Bend Raceway Friday night? Late Model driver Bo Miller has had a strange season. He started out in the black and white #38, then drove the #3 car of Bobby White, then drove the #3 car of Tommy Lawrence, then drove the #05 car of Tommy Climer and that was it, or was was it? NO, it was not the end of the strange Bo Miller season. The #05 car comes in tonight and Bo goes into the night with only a 8 point lead over #99 Chad Willis. As I am busy taking photos, I see the #05 on the trailer and it appears to be ready for the trip to Tennessee with Tommy Climer. But there is one problem, we haven't raced yet. Then you see Tommy and Bo standing at the front of the truck in discussion. And sure enough the #05, Bo's ride is going out the gates toward Tennessee. Then rumors are flying all over the pits. It looks like Bo Miller will hand over the championship to #99 Chad Willis. As the races start up and we are watching them, you look up and over the hill a BIG white RIG comes through the gates into the pits. Yes, you guessed it. It's a ride for Bo Miller. It's the Nashville car of Dillion Oliver #33. So this is car #5 for the season. And yes, Bo races the #33 car finishes ninth and wins the championship for 2008 in the late model class by 10 points over Chad Willis. To me this may be the seasons 2008 story. Oh, by the way! If Bo ever quits racing maybe he would think of becoming a magician. Magicians pull rabbits out of a hat and Bo pulls cars out of a hat. Congratulations to Bo Miller!

POSTED 9-20-08 SAMMY SANDERS GRABS THE SEASON ENDING RACE WIN IN LATE MODELS!

Late Model Driver Sammy Sanders #12 wins the late race of 2008 season. Sammy needs the season to be starting over for 2008. He and his crew have found something for Beech Bend Raceway. Sammy won both the twin 50 lap races and continues to win. Great Job! Sammy

POSTED 9-20-08 DANNY "GROVE RAT" MARR WINS THE MODIFIED STREET CLASS 2008 CHAMPIONSHIP

Danny "GROVE RAT" Marr wins the hard fought Championship for 2008 in the modified street class. Danny seen the ups and downs during the year and still held on to win the championship. Rita Cline the only woman to race in this class gave all she had and then some. Rita finished second in points for 2008. Rita can hold her head up high for that job well done. And I can't end this story without saying that with all the hard battles on the track during 2008 season, Rita and Danny had their share, even with each other. At one point Danny and Rita tried to take each other out of the race and tore up a lot of equipment. With that being said, Danny and Rita finally met face to face like man and woman to work out the differences. They did and raced a very good season to the end. Good job racers! And special congratulations Danny with your championship!

POSTED 9-20-08 KEITH MONTGOMERY #40 WINS LAST RACE OF 2008 MODIFIED STREET CLASS!

Keith Montgomery #40 wins the last race of 2008 in Modified Street class. Keith holds off driver Danny Marr #11 who would after the race become the points champion for 2008. Keith drove hard and won the race fairly easy. Danny however drove a very smart race by staying out of trouble and keeping the car under him to claim that championship. Great Job! Keith

POSTED 9-20-08 MINI CUP DRIVER ANDREW LAWRENCE WINS RACE AND 2008 CHAMPIONSHIP!

Mini Cup Future Stars driver wins last race at Beech Bend Raceway of 2008 and walks away with the 2008 championship. Andrew Lawrence #00 wins it all tonight. Great job! Andrew

Tennessee driver Tommy Hoover was RED HOT Friday night for his last race of 2008. Tommy won the front runner race and claims the 2008 championship in the front runner class. Stacey Key grabs second place and ends the season a the champion.

POSTED 9-20-08 MATT MELTON COLLECTS THE FRONT RUNNER FIGURE-8 CHAMPIONSHIP!

Young gun, Matt Melton holds on to collect the 2008 front runner figure-8 championship. Congratulations Matt!

POSTED 9-20-08 DOODLE OVER COMES TROUBLES TO CLAIM CHAMPIONSHIP!

Figure-8 points leader, Richard "Doodle" Dickens has car troubles and has to start the race to win the championship. The team works on his car but it can't be repaired. The question is, will J.J. Schweizer #7 pick up the 2008 championship? Hold on folks, Doodle talks to his sister, Rita Cline and works out a deal to drive her car in the figure-8. And as the story goes, Doodle drove the #69 car and yes he only finished last place in the season ending race but picked up the points to claim his championship for 2008. That made Doodle be the only person in the history of Beech Bend Raceway figure-8 to claim 5 in a row championship. This fact may not be true but to all the research that we were able to pull up it is a fact. Congratulations Doodle!

POSTED 9-9-08 THESE PICTURES WERE EMAILED TO ME FROM TAMMY DUNN-JOHNSON

Daymond Long #28 sportsman driver was involved in a wreck last race. I have gotten all kinds of opinions of what happened. I seen the #46 Robert Cohron get into the back of #28 Daymond Long and then Daymond get over into the outside lane as #44 Phillip Akin was trying to enter the opening for the pass. As to who was at fault, I didn't see it close enough to spin my opinion. It was hard racing for sure. Feel free give your opinion, but KEEP it CLEAN.

I have been trying to promote racing for about two years now. I just had the pleasure to post as a photojournalist on this site www.wnky.net/younews It is a site for WNKY TV. I post as photoguy57. My first post and story was of the Ricky Sanford crash. It was just put on today and has already been placed as "Most Popular". Be sure to check this site out. I will be posting for them about our local racing. Maybe it will help you the racer. There is a link to this site on my side bar to the right if you want to click on it later. Thanks, Odell

POSTED 8-31-08 FORDS WIN TWICE

This hurts me bad. Why? Because I am a Chevy Man. And Sunday night at Beech Bend Raceway two FORDS in two different class WON! The top photo is #46 John Summers of the Modified Street class. He drove off with a sizable lead to take the win. John's car had been sitting in a barn for a few years and they just knock the dust off and come out and won. The photo below is #87 Jeff Bush. Bush knocked the dust off his car also. It has been sitting at home too. Oh well, I guess the chevy guys need to step it up with these HOT ROD FORDS coming to town. Good Job John and Jeff.

POSTED 8-31-08 DONT LET A SIMPLE LITTLE RACE HURT A FRIENDSHIP!

Wild, what can I say about this deal? First, I am friends with both you guy's. And Tommy and Doodle were friends. Doodle needed a ride to keep up his points lead and Tommy let Doodle drive his car. Doodle won in Tommy's car. What a great thing for two racers to do for each other. I am not going to say much more except read the writing below (Melton-Bland Battle) and most of that applies to you guy's. I hope you both find it deep down in your soul to forgive each other and finish this season out with some good hard racing. Like Forrest Gump said, that's all I got to say about that.

POSTED 8-31-08 LET'S HAVE RACES, NOT WARS

I thought about this war between Matt Melton and Joe Bland most of the day. The question was how do I report this incident without making one or both parties mad at me? With that being said let me first say this. I love stock car racing as much as most anyone out at the local tracks of Beech Bend Raceway. I would do nothing on purpose to hurt Beech Bend Raceway, Stock Car Racing or any of you racers. I happen to feel that I am friends with both parties. Again, with all that being said, as I have said on here more than once I DO NOT LIKE TO SEE RACERS USE THEIR CARS AS WEAPONS ON THE TRACK OR IN THE PITS. I also have raced many times at Beech Bend Raceway and other tracks. I have gotten so mad that I could have beat the daylights out of another racer. But I didn't! If you are going to race or compete in any competition you must learn to keep your feeling and tempers in check. Easier said than done, I know! Losers KEEP fighting and WINNERS and REAL men can say I'm SORRY and go on racing. The only trouble with that is sometimes neither side feels like they were wrong and that MALE macho thing comes into play. Well tough, get over it. The crowd keeps most of this stirred up. Why? Because they like to see you all put on a show. And if one of you hurts, kills or do anything bad, you go to jail and they go home and laugh at you while they sleep in their nice warm bed and you are in a cold old jail and maybe for a long time. I know you say I'm not going to kill someone, right! Ask a former racer Joe Ray. He hit a crew member/Owner and when he fell to the blacktop he hit his head and almost died. Joe got 5 years. Is this really worth it? I think not. NASCAR has trouble with drivers. Just like Carl Edwards and Kyle Bush. NASCAR also keeps a handle on things. And again, with that being said, a good rivalry is fine and also fun for the fans to watch. Even bumping and hard racing is good. But if a guy spins you be a man a shake his hand at the end of the race. He will think a lot more of you. But if he spins you again next week? Get someone that is not with you, like Dallas Jones, Bobby White, Gary Dalton and after the drivers meeting talk to him with them. But talk like a man and no foul language or such. Work it out like grown men. Hey, and you kids racing in a man's world need to act like grown men too! I could rattle on for ever, but I will stop. Guy's remember, young kids in the stand may want to race someday and may have you as their idle. And if you post on my site remember to KEEP IT CLEAN.
