POSTED 4-29-09 CHERRY BOMB 200

Cherry Bomb 200 Up Next for the Rockingham Speedway FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Charles Hudson 910-205-8800 ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (April 29, 2009) – The track has been vacuumed, the stands cleaned and the Cheerwine celebration from Victory Lane has been mopped up. Now the Rockingham Speedway will begin preparations for the next big race – the Cherry Bomb 200 on July 4th. The inaugural race on Independence Day for the Speedway will see the return of the Kimmel Street Stock Series – the same cars that made New Year’s Day so exciting at ‘The Rock.’ This time the Street Stock cars will run 100 laps and will start up to 99 cars for their second race ever at Rockingham. The second 100-laps will be contested by the ASA Late Model Series – a series very similar to the UARA Series that raced during the Carolina 200 race weekend and put on a side by side duel for the race win during the closing laps. The ASA Late Model Series tested at the fast, one-mile speedway earlier in the year with short track legend Butch Miller driving one of the cars as well as Bob Varney getting some valuable track time for the series. Practice and qualifying for the Cherry Bomb 200 will be Friday July 3rd with free admission to the grandstands for race fans. The 100 lap Kimmel Street Stock race will start at 10 A.M. on Saturday July 4th and will be followed by the ASA Late Model Series 100 lap event approximately 30 minutes afterwards. Tickets for the Cherry Bomb 200 are general admission and only $10 with kids 12 years of age and younger free with a paid adult. For more information about the Cherry Bomb 200 or to order tickets, please contact the speedway at (910) 205-8800 or visit our website at www.rockinghamspeedway.com.
