POSTED 8-30-07 SPECIAL SPORTSMAN RACE FOR SUNDAY'S RACE DAY!

SPORTSMAN RACE? I have been told that we will have twin 25's on Sunday in the sportsman class. I was told that Quick Fuel will be the sponsor. I was also told that it would be double money and double points. This has not been confirmed by track owner, Dallas Jones. I guess we will see.

POSTED 8-30-07 DOODLE RACING AT SALEM SPEEDWAY AT THE HALLOWEEN 200 IN OCTOBER

I did get an email from Doodle and Angie. They said Doodle will race at Salem Speedway in the Halloween 200 in Salem, IN. Margaret and I always go to this event and so do many other Bowling Green racer's and fan's. Good Luck Doodle! See you there.

POSTED 8-30-07 NO RACES LAST WEEK AND NO NEWS!

Some have ask, why haven't I made any post lately? Two reason's, first we had no races last Friday. no races, no news! I did receive an email that I will put on after I post this. The second reason for no post is, my real job has kept me very busy and even out of town. Sorry, but keep looking and keep me posted with racing news. Thanks, Odell

POSTED 8-18-07 MARK OLIVER #25 LATE MODEL GETS DISQUALIFIED

Late Model car of Mark Oliver finished third but was disqualified for his left side being too low to the ground. Mark had a left front shock that was very low and then slowly begin to raise as the car set there. Bobby White the track inspector could not get the gauge under Mark's car. Better luck next week Mark, don't forget to change that shock!

POSTED 8-18-07 RICKY DICKENS SHOWS HIS KINDNESS

Left to Right are Me (Odell) and Ricky Dickens. Ricky won the figure-8 race Friday night and then he shocked me. Ricky gave me his winning trophy. I consider Ricky to be a good friend of mine but never dreamed of him sharing his trophy with me. I have never had anyone to do that for me. My daughter Tammy has had a couple drivers to give her a trophy when she was a little girl but I had never had that pleasure. I race stock cars and have won a few trophies of my own, but this one will be one of my favorite ones. For some of you fans that only know Ricky as the blue winged car that races in the figure-8 there is more to him than that. He is a real man. He has worked for Grac-Tac Heating and Cooling for years and a family man. Ricky doesn't bother anyone and just keeps his mouth shut and races. Thanks Ricky and I wish you the best this year. Good luck to you and all the figure-8 guys.

POSTED 8-18-07 OUR KIDS ARE SOMETIMES OUR BIGGEST FANS

I have wrote a lot of stories on this site but this one is what it is all about in my opinion. I have shared with you stories of winners, cars, tracks, and etc... This picture is of sportsman driver Paul Watkins and his son. My wife stands on the walk over and tapes me (Odell #99) and Paul races in my class, as she tapes, Paul's son stands up there too and watches his Dad race. My wife tells me every night how cute he is and how he yells for his dad to win. I had never really met him so when I took Paul's picture I saw him standing in the pits close to his dad and ask if this was his son, it was, and so I took this picture. I remember when I raced years ago and Paul's Dad, Johnny was a driver and a very good one at that. Paul was like his son he was the little kid running around in the pits. So the saying the apple doesn't fall far from the tree is true I guess. I believe that no matter how many people are fans of Paul this little boy will always be Paul's biggest fan. Paul you should be very proud. There is nothing like family. To you folks reading this site I just wanted to post this story to said not all races are bad people and there is more to a racer than just a stock car. My oldest daughter who doesn't go to the races told me that her son (my grandson) was playing baseball this year and Paul was a coach on the other team and she told me that he really did a good job and had a lot of fun with the kids. Good Job Paul! In short speaking as a fellow racer, yes we get mad at other racer from time to time and show our self, but it is because a good racer has that fire in his belly and is a very competitive person but when it is said and done we are family men and women, coach's, bosses, factory workers, your painter, heat & cool man, a blood donor and etc. Just plain old good moral people in our community. Paul thanks for your part in our community and at Beech Bend Raceway.

POSTED 8-18-07 PRESTON WHITE HAS BAD LUCK AND SOME GOOD NEW TO SHARE

Preston White #3 had some bad luck Friday night. From my view point it looked look he was caught up in somebody esle's mess. And Preston told me last night that he has a sportsman car for the 2008 season. Good luck Preston!

Gary talked to the guys and said he had notice drivers mirror driving and then Dallas said if any drivers start hitting someone on purpose then he would have the flagman to through the red flag and would have that drive taken off the track and barred for the rest of this year. They must have heard Dallas because nothing happen in the figure-8. Matter of a fact it was a really good race. A shout goes out to Wayne Green, Sr. Wayne drove a great race and finished second. POSTED 8-8-07 EVERY RACE TRACK NEEDS A CLOWN LIKE CHECKERS!

This is Checkers the clown. He is the track clown at Highland Rim Speedway. He really loves little children and gives them stuffed bears, dolls and etc. He also throw's candy to kids and us adults too! I have had him to throw me candy. Checkers donates his time and money to childrens groups and this last weekend they said he was giving his pay to the Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital. Checkers the Clown brings a lot of smile to kids from everywhere. I think we need more people like Checkers. Good job! Checkers.

POSTED 8-5-07 BO MILLER'S CAR OWNER STEVE GRAY IN THE HOSPITAL

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Steve Gray car owner of the #38 Late Model driven by Bo Miller. Get well soon, Steve!

POSTED 8-5-07 BO MILLER SPANKS THEM DURING THE 100 LAP RACE AT HIGHLAND RIM SPEEWAY

Bo Miller in his #38 Late model may have had rearend trouble at Beech Bend Raceway Friday night and pulled out of the race early. But Saturday night at Highland Rim Speedway they had a special 100 lap race and the #14 Davey Coble set the fastest time with Bo the second fastest. But when the green flag dropped Bo took the lead and never looked back at one time during the race Bo had a 10 to 12 car lead over the #14, then caution came out and the #14 closed in, but could not get close enough to make a move for the lead and Bo Miller takes the win. great job Bo!

POSTED 8-5-07 KEVIN LAMASTUS WINS AGAIN AT HIGHLAND RIM SPEEDWAY

Kevin Lamastus in his #21k sportsman car has the fastest time and wins the feature race at Highland Rim Speedway Saturday night. The Rim has already added 100 pounds to Kevin after he had won three other races. The weight must not have hurt Kevin too bad. Good Job, Kevin!

POSTED 8-5-07 MEETING TJ ROOKER AT HIGHLAND RIM SPEEDWAY

Pictured here left to right is Odell Turner and TJ Rooker, Highland Rim track director/inspector. I had the honor to met TJ, Saturday night at the Rim. TJ is a very fine person. I look forward to having more things to report to you as TJ and the fine people at the Rim have for me to report here on this site. Good Luck TJ, hope you guys raised a lot of money for the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

POSTED 8-5-07 LITTLE RILEY ROOKER A VANDERBILT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL PATIENT

I was very honored to get to met TJ Rooker's son Riley. Riley has a twin sister too. When they were born Riley had Transposition of the arteries which lead to him having open heart surgery. This was all done by Vanderbilt Childern's Hospital. TJ was incharge of getting this night to raise awareness and money for Vanderbilt Childern's Hospital. In this picture little Riley and Hazel Charleton a staff member at the Rim in which little Riley was helping hold the money that you drivers and fans at Beech Bend Raceway raised. He is doing fine now. I know that Riley and other little children just like him thank you too! You can post Riley a comment if you like.

POSTED 8-5-07 MONEY PRESENTATION AT HIGHLAND RIM SPEEDWAY

Pictured left to right is Odell Turner, Riley Rooker (T.J. Rooker's son) and Hazel Charleton (Staff at Highland Rim Speedway). I was proud to make this money presentation to the fine folks at Highland Rim Speedway. The money was donated by drivers and fans at Beech Bend Raceway, in Bowling Green, KY. on Friday night at the races. The $184.00 that we collected with what they collect at the Rim will go the the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. This picture was taken before the races at the Rim, Saturday night 8-4-07. Good Luck, TJ

POSTED 8-5-07 JOSH BYRNS MAKES A GREAT SHOWING!

Tommy Climer may have won the late model race Friday night but Josh Byrns in the #31 late model car was very impressive. I can not take anything away from Tommy Climer, he is very good. I think Josh is a very nice and respectful young man. He was behind the #2 of Mike Pruitt and put a fantastic move on him to take to lead. Josh later on in the race got a big time move put on him by a more experienced driver, which was Tommy Climer who won the race and Josh finished second. Hang in there Josh you have great future in my opinion.

POSTED 8-5-07 RICKY DICKENS WINS WITH A WINGLESS CAR

Ricky Dickens #28 picks up the figure-8 win. Ricky was made to take off his roof wing before Friday night because someone didn't think it was fair. I was standing by a man that clocked him at a 21:50 Friday night which was a faster time than when he had the wing. Remember I am friends with all the eight drivers and just try to report things fair. But someone was posting that the wings really help, come on, did it? NO

POSTED 8-5-07 SCOTT GAY HAS BAD LUCK AT BEECH BEND AFTER LEADING THE RACE

Scott Gay in the #01 Open Wheel Modified makes contact with the wall in turn one. Scott was leading and looked to have the winning car. Scott ended up finishing eighth. Better luck next time Scott.

POSTED 8-5-07 THE FIGURE-8 TROUBLES HITS AGAIN!!!!!

This is yet another picture from Friday night of the #34 Figure-8 car driven by Dennis "Zoomie" Oliver and owned by Eric "Bubbio" Johnson. This photo was after the figure-8. First, Wayne Green Sr. #6 hit the #34 going into the turn and Zoomie in the #34 spun out. Then it appeared that Zoomie tried to hit Wayne and take him out. Later Zoomie thought Mike Mason tried to take him out by spinning him out again. Then Zoomie tried to hit Mike in #M1 and did spin Mike out, so then here comes mike and he hits Zoomie and this is the damage to the #34. So the Figure-8 confrontation goes on and on and on!!!!!!!

POSTED 8-5-07 RACER JAY PARRISH AND HIS BEST BUDDY

This is Driver of the Sportsman car #79 Jay Parrish with a fan. This little boy is Sportsman Driver #46 Robert Cohron's son, I think? He is wearing a tee-shirt with Jay Parrish's picture and says BEST BUDDY'S. I told Jay maybe he will grow out of it, just kidding! This kind of thing is what makes Jay should a sportsman and is what the family of racing is all about. Thanks Jay for sharing you time to take this picture with this child.

POSTED 8-5-07 THIS IS FOR MY FRIEND JAY PARRISH

Jay Parrish pictured here with his #79 Chevy. Jay won week before last feature race in the Sportsman class and I did not have a picture of Jay in my files. But Jay let me know Friday night that I didn't put his picture on my site. I had to leave the track Friday night and run to Wal-mart buy a towel just to dry up them tears so Jay could race Friday. Now, on a more serious note, Jay is a very good friend of mine and I am just messing with him. I was very proud to see Jay win, after not racing for years, Jay told us that was his first win in twelve years. I always pull for us older stock car drivers, not saying that Jay is as old as I am but he isn't one of them young pup's either. Good Luck the rest of the season Jay. HA-HA!!!!!!!!

POSTED 8-5-07 IS THERE A REAL PROBLEM WITH BEECH BEND RACEWAY'S FLAGMAN?

I am hearing alot of buzz going around the pits about the flagman. I heard comments about the wreck with Daniel Young #9 and Joey Stancil #10 being the flagman's fault. I heard this week some of the Baby Pro crews talking about the finish of the race being the flagman's fault. I did not see this. I have heard other talking about the flagman. My question is he doing that bad or is it just over kill? Let me heard from you, but keep it clean, please!
