POSTED 2-25-09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Allison Legacy Series to Take on the Road Course at ‘The Rock’ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Charles Hudson 910-205-8800 ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (February 24, 2009) – For the first time in history, the Allison Legacy Series will start the season at the historic Rockingham Speedway with Saturday’s road course race on the .625 configuration that uses the infield and part of the one-mile oval. Seventeen teams used an open test session to get used to the race track and get their cars dialed into the fast road course. One of the drivers participating in the test session was Tyler Speers who is no stranger to Rockingham Speedway. The 18 year old driver raced in the Inaugural Polar Bear 150 at the speedway to start the race season and he will now race on the road course this weekend. “The Polar Bear race was awesome, it was the first superspeedway race I have been in and the first race for the street stock I built,” said Speers. When asked if he had an advantage because of his Rockingham experience he laughingly said, “Not really because this is a road course. We do use some of the same track but we are going backwards through it.” “We went out today on 200 lap tires and the car was pretty good. I just changed my line and where I shift and got the lap times down to 43.7’s.” Speers recorded a 33rd place finish in a field of 70 cars in his first superspeedway start at the Polar Bear 150 and will look to improve that this weekend during the Allison Legacy race as well as July 4th when the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Series returns for the Cherry Bomb 200. Former Allison Legacy Series race winner, Ryan Glenski tested for the upcoming race but he did not run nearly as many laps as his competitors. Glenski spent most of the day driving on ‘Little Rock’ during the Fast Track High Performance Driving School for developmental drivers. Glenski was one of several young drivers driving an ARCA RE/MAX Series car on the ½ mile oval during the Fast Track driving school. During the school’s lunch break he managed to squeeze in a few laps in the Allison Legacy car on the road course test session that happened to be going on at the same time. “It was a good day, I came here just to get some experience and I got a lot of laps and made some pit stops so it was a great experience,” said Glenski of his laps in the ARCA car. “I kept picking up [speed] every time I went out so at the end of the day I think it went very well.” Glenski already is on the Rockingham Speedway wall of winners thanks to his win in a Bandolero car in January of 2008. Will his experience on the Rockingham’s road course help? “Definitely. When we come back next week, I think we will have a good shot at it [the Allison Legacy win].” Fans can watch the race for free from ‘Thunder Alley’ – the best viewing area for the infield road course. Fans can also purchase garage pass to get a close-up view of the action from the garage area for the race. Among the drivers that have used the Allison Legacy Series to advance their driving careers are: Brian Vickers, David Ragan, Jon Wood, Regan Smith, Eric Darnell, Kelly Bires and Joey Logano. For more information about the Allison Legacy Series or the upcoming Carolina 200 please contact the speedway at (910) 205-8800 or visit our website at www.rockinghamspeedway.com.

Former USAR-Pro Cup Series Returning to ‘The Rock’ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Charles Hudson 910-205-8800 ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (February 5, 2009) – The last few weeks have brought big announcements from the Rockingham Speedway concerning all of the new races scheduled for 2009 at the historic track. Today’s news features the return of a series to the speedway – the Pro Cup Series will race on Saturday October 10th, 2009. The series formerly known as USAR Pro Cup is now known as USARacing. The race will be 150 laps and will be on the Saturday before the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship race on October 11th, 2009. Fans attending the USARacing Pro Cup race will also get to see ARCA practice and qualifying the same day. Last year’s Pro Cup race was a great one that saw Clayton Rodgers win with Drew Herring in second place and Tom Hessert finishing third, all taking the checkered flag within 10-car lengths of each other. "Having the Pro Cup Series back means a lot and it will make for an incredible race weekend in October," said Rockingham Speedway President, Andy Hillenburg. “The schedule for our 2009 season will be action-packed for all of our fans.” There are now seven races scheduled for the one-mile oval at Rockingham. The UARA-Stars Late Model Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series will open the 2009 season with their races on April 18th and 19th, respectively. July 4th will see the Cherry Bomb 200 featuring the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Series and the ASA Late Model Series racing 100 laps each for the Independence Day double-header. The second annual Polar Bear 150 is scheduled for January 1st. Tickets for the ARCA and UARA races have been going quickly since each race was announced.
