This photo is of folks that were out at WhaBah's to hear the WhaBah Horsepower radio show. (Left to Right) John Barnard, Bobby Cash, Penny Adams and Brenda Barnard. John and Brenda have a son Brian, that drag races. John (Dad) built the car for his son who won his bracket in super pro, driving a Ford last year in the NMRA. Brenda (Mom) is the pit crew. Penny said she supports everybody and loves racing. Bobby first did the water box for the drags years ago. Then he did staging for the drags and then starting line ups. He also was the stock car track inspections Tech. for Dallas several years ago. We were happy to meet these fine people.

KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY NEWS UPDATE: FRANK KIMMEL ENDURO NATIONALS II PRESENTED BY HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF CINCINNATI AND THOROUGHBRED HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF FLORENCE, KY. (100 Laps/150 Miles) on the 1.5 Mile Tri-Oval.
Aspiring competitors represent Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington.
As I write this column on my blog, I search for the right words to describe Jay Parrish. As a race fan and being born and raised in Bowling Green, Ky. Jay made me feel very proud to be a Kentuckian and from Bowling Green.
Jay Parrish has raced with many of us local guys including yours truly (Odell). He had folks to help him here in Bowling Green and at the big track. I know Jerry Cohron has helped Jay a lot. I also saw Doodle Dickens, Keith Montgomery and others that I couldn't tell who they were.
Jay went out on the big 1.5 Mile Tri-Oval to qualify and of eighty two cars he qualified ninth fastest. Of all the big name drivers such as Chuck Barnes, Sr., Beau Mitchell, Joe Williams, Mike Velotta, Kyle Hadley and many more, Jay did one heck of a job!
On lap eighteen, Jay was involved in a wreck that sent his car into the wall in the middle of turns three and four. Jay came in to the pits and they fixed his wheel and tire, plus his right front fender and removed his hood which may have hurt his speed. Jay was down at least one lap coming back out to restart the race on lap twenty.
Jay finished in twenty first place, which was a fine job with the damage to his car early on in the race. I think that Jay looked faster at the last twenty laps than he did earlier.
The caution came out with a spin by Chuck Barnes, Sr. and the race started back with twenty laps to go and Chuck Barnes, Sr. #51 started in the rear. He drove to the front to win the FRANK KIMMEL ENDURO NATIONALS II. Chuck was the defending champion in last years first FRANK KIMMEL ENDURO NATIONALS. Congratulations to Chuck Barnes, Sr. with two in a row titles, and to Bowling Green's very own Mr. Jay Parrish.
The late model race Friday night saw two cars wreck each other. TOP: #28 of Steve Ashley BELOW: #2 of Martin Belcher of Brooks, Ky.
Figure-8 driver #2 Jimmy Glass. Jimmy had a really good night Friday night with a second place finish. Good Job Jimmy!
Front Runner driver Scott Mason. Scott is the son of Figure-8 driver Mike Mason #M1. Scott drives in the Front Runner Figure-8.

Scott Thompson #45 Sportsman car from Highland Rim Speedway was visiting Beech Bend Raceway Friday night.
Figure-8 car of Dennis "Zoomie" Oliver. The car is owned by Eric "Bubbio" Johnson. Zoomie led several laps Friday night and looked to be the winner until the rear end went up in smoke. Hopefully they will be back for Monday's race.
Brian Cherry's #22 Late Model Ford. Brian said they didn't have time to get the car lettered. The car looked good Friday night. Being a new car after a few changes, I believe Brian will be up front. Good Luck guys!
Richard "Doodle" Dickens being interviewed by Billy Grider for The Odell and Billy Show. Doodle won the figure-8 race Friday night. Two wins in a row for Doodle. Zoomie did lead most of the race but his car broke. I was told it was a rear end for Zoomie and Doodle had smoke from his car and I was told his was a rear end. J.J. was strong too! but he too had car troubles. Good Job Doodle!
Look here! I saw Doodle with the help of Steve Wyatt working on the famous car called THE ROCKET. Could the ROCKET be on it's way to Beech Bend Raceway to race? I bet it is.
