POSTED 7-14-09 EMAIL ABOUT DOODLE'S IOFS RACE

Odell, It's me again! Here are two pics that were taken this past weekend at Plymouth. Yes, that white car with the yellow duct tape 85 IS Doodle! The car may not have been the best looking thing but I think "The White Knight" looked pretty dang good going around Plymouth considering the limited amount of time they had to get it ready! Doodle and Billy Williams once again worked their tails off and it paid off since Doodle brought home a 7th place finish, the highest finishing stocker award & the hard charger award!! I had a hard time deciding what to name this car. I thought of "The White Knight" or "Big Bertha". Since this car "came to the rescue" for Doodle, no other name would fit as perfect as "The White Knight"! We had to deal with some slight issues. There was water in the fuel but thanks to some of the other IOFS crew members that jumped in to help out, Doodle and the guys were able to get the fuel cell pulled out, emptied and put back in before the feature started. He also had some handling issues but he dealt with that the best he could. All of that should be worked out before the August 15th show back in Plymouth, IN. Slowly but surely, we are knocking these races down one by one, only 5 more left on the circuit- 3 more in IN and 2 in KY!! With each race we have gone to, the racing gets better and better so you can only imagine what kinda of show BBR will get being that it is not until Sept. 18th. Bowling Green race fans will get their money's worth!!! The IOFS has had 4 races with 4 different winners if that tells ya anything! I for one will be glad when they roll into BBR. Not only because the racing will be off the charts but we will be close to home, lol. Again, I can't go without the thanks going out to all that has helped Doodle do what he loves to do and that is nothing but racing- figure 8 racing at that! I hope each and every person that has helped in any way knows that Doodle and I are extremely appreciative! FLAT ROCK, TOLEDO APRIL 25 DOUBLE-HEADER KICKS OFF 2009 SEASON TOLEDO, OH: (4-10-09): Race fans will have the opportunity to catch 2 events in one day Saturday, April 25 as Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways open their doors for the 2009 racing season. Toledo's 50th Anniversary begins with the ASA North Late Models and USA Modifieds in an afternoon event, while Flat Rock jumps into action with their traditional Saturday night show at 7 p.m. With the 2 tracks just 30 miles apart, fans can attend the Toledo event in the afternoon and then make their way north up I-75 to Flat Rock and should be able to make the start of the 7 p.m. event at "The Rock". For the third consecutive season, the ASA group is leasing Toledo Speedway to begin their season in this part of the country. The ASA North Late Models and the USA Modifieds will team up to open the 2009 campaign at the fast ½ mile paved oval. The crate-engine, template-bodied ASA cars will compete in a 125 lap feature, with preliminary events and a 50 lap main event set for the USA Modified group. Friday, April 24 will see practice from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Action starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25 with practice. Time trials are set for Noon, with racing at 2:30 p.m. An on-track autograph session is planned prior to the feature events. All tickets will go on sale at Noon Saturday when the front gates open. Flat Rock Speedway is preparing for its 56th season of racing on the same day, Saturday, April 25. The ARCA Moran Chevrolet-Miller Lite Late Models, Figure 8's and Street Stocks will open the new season as they have since 1977. The quick ¼ mile paved oval will have 7-Up as the opening night sponsor. The pit gates will open at 1:30, practice will begin at 3, time trials at 5 and racing at 7 p.m. Toledo's weekly Friday night race cards, featuring the Miller Lite Summer Racing Series, begins May 1. The ARCA Sportsman, Figure 8's, 4 Cylinders and Speedway Tire/Auto Factory Stocks will be in action for the initial Friday night show. Gates open at 5 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. The Buckeye Cable Sports System (BCSN) and the Toledo area Tim Hortons will serve as sponsors for the May 1 event. Fans can go to participating Tim Hortons for a money-saving admission coupon for the first Friday night race.

(April 2, 2009) – Last season, Rockingham Speedway honored three of NASCAR’s greats and made them a permanent part of the historic track. The Benny Parsons Tower, the Papa Joe Hendrick Garage Area and the Ricky Rudd Grandstands were all named for three men instrumental to the speedway’s legacy. This year Chris Economaki and Ken Schrader will be honored by the speedway with the naming of the Media Center and Turn Four grandstands, respectively. The Chris Economaki Media Center is dedicated to the man who has covered the sport of auto racing for more than 70 years as a journalist, track announcer, radio and television announcer and has been the editor for National Speed Sport News since 1950. He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1994 and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1993. “When you get old, people give you things and I have become humbled by the number of things people have given me in recent years,” said Economaki. “Having spent the majority of my lifetime at race tracks, I’m proud to have my name associated with a race track as rich in history as Rockingham Speedway.” “I first met Chris at a sprint car race when I was a seventeen year old driver,” said Rockingham Speedway President, Andy Hillenburg. “The sport and media coverage we have today would not be the same without the foundation he helped build and I want fans to know it.” Ken Schrader is no stranger to Rockingham Speedway - he earned six top-fives at the track including a second place finish in 1991 during his Cup career at the track. He also had 10 top-10’s at the historic track as well as one pole in 1990. “Ken Schrader is the definition of the term ‘racer.’ He has been and always will be a fan favorite and a personal favorite as well,” said Hillenburg. “The first time I raced at Daytona was in his car as well as my first win there. We share the same passion for the sport and we are very proud to have his name permanently displayed at the Rockingham Speedway.” Schrader just missed winning last year’s ARCA race when he finished second in the first race since the track was reopened. He will be looking to improve by one position with the second running of the race on April 19th. “I am honored but a little bit surprised,” said Schrader. “I’ve known Andy since before he moved down here and I’ve always been a big fan of his and I think it is pretty amazing what he has been able to accomplish.” “I always did like it [racing at Rockingham] just because of the way the track would work on the tires and to do well you really had to use your foot there a lot. When we got to run the ARCA race there last year it was like ‘damn I knew this place was fun but I forgot how much fun it was.’ I am looking forward to going back this year.” Carolina 200 race weekend kicks off on Friday April 17th with Thunderfest in downtown Rockingham from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. There will be a hauler parade through downtown Rockingham at noon on Friday for the day-long celebration as well as most of the drivers signing autographs at 6:00 p.m. On track activities begin Friday as well with UARA practice and qualifying. Saturday April 18th will feature the UARA race and practice and qualifying for the ARCA cars. The Carolina 200 is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday April 19th. Reserved seat tickets for the Carolina 200 start at $20 with kids 12 and under admitted for only $15 in any section with paid adult but with the Buy For Sunday, Bonus For Saturday ticket promotion that runs until April 10th, fans will receive a free UARA race ticket. After April 10th, tickets for the UARA race and ARCA practice and qualifying are only $15 in advance or $20 the day of the race with kids 12 and under free with a paid adult for general admission seating. Friday is free admission for everyone. Hello race fans. Margaret and I have been on vacation for a week. We went to Beech Bend and took our camper for the AMRA Harley Drags. Margaret did video for The Odell and Billy Show.
