POSTED 4/28/07 JOHNSON - TURNER WRECK?

Well the first race of 2007 season was the sportsman class and it had some action! William Johnson was involved in a spin out after a few laps. William Johnson and Ronnie Presley had battled for a few lap's, Ronnie passed Willaim and then William Passed Ronnie back. Then a few laps later it appears that the #18 of Presley hit Johnson in the rear and spun him out in turns 3 & 4 causing # 03 Rick Stamper to loop his car around too. Then the caution comes out and that is where the Johnson-Turner deal happened. From my seat and after watching the video this is my story, talking to a lot of people at the track it appears that William was trying to speed up to either bump the #18 of Presley or just hurry up and get in line as I was, when all at once they just stopped dead still in front of me at that point I hit my brake petal and it went all the way to the floor. Most racer's know me and I do not simply run over other racers and Willie and I are or were friends and I hope we are still friends. I went to Williams pits after the wreck to apologize and tell him what happen, he was still mad and told me to get out of his pits and would not except my apology. I can understand him being mad, I probably would be too if I was him. I hope after a day or two and he has cooled down that Willie will call me to talk about this. But if he doesn't that is all I can do. So at this point it is over for my part. Call me Willie.

I know you (Odell) and everyone knows this is something you would have not done intentionally. I hope Willie accepts your apology because you done the right thing by trying to apologize. Hey, we all have accidents, or cars tear up. That is part of racing. I have really calmed down and mellowed out in my old age. I use to get mad and my temper flared, but that could happen to any of us.

IT IS HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT WILLE ACTED IN THE MANNER HE DID (I AM NOT CALLING ANYONE A LIAR). I JUST HAVE NEVER KNOW WILLIE TO GET THIS UPSET. I UNDERSTAND THE HARD WORK AND HOURS THAT GOES INTO BUILDING A CAR. I KNOW WILLIE HAS WORKED EXTREMELY HARD TO GETTING HIS CAR READY. BUT THIS IS EQUAL FOR ODELL. EVEN THOUGH HE IS NOT RUNNING THE CAR HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE, I AM CERTAIN THAT HE WOULD NOT WANT TO TEAR UP HIS CAR AS TEAR UP ANYONE ELSE'S. I HOPE THAT WILLIE CAN SEE PAST THIS AND UNDERSTAND THAT ODELL IS NOT AN ENEMY BUT A FRIEND AND DID NOT CHOOSE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I ALSO HOPE THAT PEOPLE CAN SEE THAT WILLIE WAS VERY UPSET AT THAT MOMENT AND LET HIS ANGER TAKE OVER. A RACECAR SHOULD NEVER COME BETWEEN YOU AND A FRIEND.

I know that was an accident, and I know that you and Willie will probably work everything out because you guys are friends. I hope everything works out for both of you.

It is really hard to race with freinds. I have raced with freinds and ruined freindships. Even the ones that werent ruined took years to recover from. You have NO freinds on the track.
