BARNES CAPTURES THIRD CONSECUTIVEHALLOWEEN 200 VICTORY ON SUNDAYSALEM, IN, October 26 – Chuck Barnes’ mastery of the Salem Speedway high banks continued on Sunday afternoon, as the veteran Louisville driver captured the season ending Halloween 200, presented by Smoker Friendly Discount Tobacco. Barnes, the all-time Salem Speedway win leader, led the final 27-laps around the .555-mile oval to record his third consecutive Halloween 200 win and 52nd career victory on the famed high banks. Barnes, who lined-up 43rd on the starting grid, finished less than one-second in front of the second place car driven by Tony Conway of Louisville. The second place effort was Conway’s best finish in the annual fall classic since winning the 1998 race. Johnny Magee of Carthage, Ind., another former Halloween 200 winner (2003) finished third, with Jason Thompson of Shirley, Ind., fourth and Rich Boyer, who won the race in 2004, fifth. Eric Bayens, Nick Johnson, David Bayens, Derrick Bartlett and A.J. Kempf rounded out the second five in that order. |
