FLAT ROCK, TOLEDO APRIL 25 DOUBLE-HEADER KICKS OFF 2009 SEASON
TOLEDO, OH: (4-10-09): Race fans will have the opportunity to catch 2 events in one day Saturday, April 25 as Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways open their doors for the 2009 racing season. Toledo's 50th Anniversary begins with the ASA North Late Models and USA Modifieds in an afternoon event, while Flat Rock jumps into action with their traditional Saturday night show at 7 p.m. With the 2 tracks just 30 miles apart, fans can attend the Toledo event in the afternoon and then make their way north up I-75 to Flat Rock and should be able to make the start of the 7 p.m. event at "The Rock". For the third consecutive season, the ASA group is leasing Toledo Speedway to begin their season in this part of the country. The ASA North Late Models and the USA Modifieds will team up to open the 2009 campaign at the fast ½ mile paved oval. The crate-engine, template-bodied ASA cars will compete in a 125 lap feature, with preliminary events and a 50 lap main event set for the USA Modified group. Friday, April 24 will see practice from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Action starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25 with practice. Time trials are set for Noon, with racing at 2:30 p.m. An on-track autograph session is planned prior to the feature events. All tickets will go on sale at Noon Saturday when the front gates open. Flat Rock Speedway is preparing for its 56th season of racing on the same day, Saturday, April 25. The ARCA Moran Chevrolet-Miller Lite Late Models, Figure 8's and Street Stocks will open the new season as they have since 1977. The quick ¼ mile paved oval will have 7-Up as the opening night sponsor. The pit gates will open at 1:30, practice will begin at 3, time trials at 5 and racing at 7 p.m. Toledo's weekly Friday night race cards, featuring the Miller Lite Summer Racing Series, begins May 1. The ARCA Sportsman, Figure 8's, 4 Cylinders and Speedway Tire/Auto Factory Stocks will be in action for the initial Friday night show. Gates open at 5 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. The Buckeye Cable Sports System (BCSN) and the Toledo area Tim Hortons will serve as sponsors for the May 1 event. Fans can go to participating Tim Hortons for a money-saving admission coupon for the first Friday night race.
