POSTED 8-17-09 VAN METER FIRST REPEAT WINNER OF 2009

VAN METER FIRST REPEAT WINNER OF 2009 Plymouth, IN - August 15, 2009 - Eddie Van Meter became the first repeat winner in 2009 International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) action. Van Meter picked up his second IOFS winof 2009 and second career IOFS win after taking the checkers Saturday night at Plymouth, IN Speedway. Van Meter had won previously in 2009 at Anderson Speedway on July 3. Van Meter picked up the EDCO Welding quick time award earlier in the night. Plymouth promoter,Tom Smith, offered Van Meter a bonus if he would start at the tail of the field for the fifty-lap feature event and could win it. Van Meter was quick to accept Smith's challenge. Heat race victories went to Jeff Shackleford and 2007 World Champion and current series point leader, Doug Greig. The front row starters of Dane Laster and Chris Green lead the field to the green flag with Greenassuming the point right from the beginning. Green would continue to lead the early laps as intersectionaction quickly developed early in the event. After being pressured by veteran Rich Fenwick, Fenwick tookover the top spot 1/3 of the way throughout the event and began to build a sizeable lead. The battle for second through fifth place made for incredible racing with heavy lapped traffic with intersection action throughout most of the event. Van Meter battled Doug Greig, Jeff Shackleford, Chris Green, and Corey Turner as he slowly worked his way to the top spot. With roughly only twenty laps left, Van Meter usedlapped traffic to get around race leader, Rich Fenwick and would hold the top spot the last twentylaps of the event to claim the victory. The margin of victory over Fenwick was 1.641 seconds. Roundingout the top five were: Chris Green, Corey Turner, and Charlie Hargraves. Van Meter also picked up the AMSOIL HARD CHARGER award presented by authorized dealer, ElmerSchaaeffer as he advanced the most positions throughout the race. Next up for the IOFS series will be a return trip to the birthplace and unofficial home of the IOFS, AndersonSpeedway September 5. This program will also feature the debut of the new IOFS Front Wheel Drive division.The Front Wheel Drives will be competing in a special non-point event.
