POSTED 1-29-09 EMAIL TO BE POSTED
Hi Odell, On Feb. 3rd at 7:00 p.m. (cst), Doodle will be doing a Q&A segment called "Meet the Drivers" on www.race8.com. I would like to invite everyone to go to that website to register as a member so they can join in on the segment. The registeration process is very simple. You will just need to come up with a username and password and then be sure to sign in on the night of the segment in order to be able to post questions for Doodle. As far as I know, Doodle is the only one from Bowling Green at this point to be invited to do the segment. Most of the drivers that have been featured on there have been from the Louisville, Jeffersonville and Indy areas. This site covers many forms of racing but the main focus is figure 8 racing and figure 8 drivers. I hope that everyone that can will join in that night. Hopefully, Doodle can spark someone's interest from that area and/or here and pick up some much needed sponsors for the 2009 season so he can finish up his Extreme Winged Figure 8 car. Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation. Angie Dickens
POSTED 1-29-09 IOFS SCHEDULE
IOFS READY TO ROLL January 23, 2009 - Indianapolis, IN - International Outlaw Figure 8 Series ( IOFS ) today announced their much anticipated inaugural schedule. The newly formed Outlaw traveling series is set for a very impressive and exciting season if their schedule is any indication. The series will travel to a variety of venues including many which have never hosted Outlaw Figure 8's before. The schedule features events at five speedways in three states although two are listed as tentative. Speedways of interest are two events at the recently reopened Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville, KY and three dates at Plymouth, Indiana. The Plymouth events will showcase Figure 8 racing for the first time in speedway history. A surprise addition to the schedule is Slinger Super Speedway in Sliger, WI with a tentative date.If this date holds this would be the first-ever appearance of Outlaw Figure 8 racing in the Badgerland area. Other speedways listed on the schedule include Anderson, IN and Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY. Series representatives Charlie Hargraves and David Sink expressed extreme satisfaction with the inaugural season schedule. "Charlie worked closely with the promoters all winter long for the best possible dates for our fans and teams. Although it was challenging I think everyone should be excited and there may still be additions" Sink insisted. " We had originally announced dates for Montpelier, IN Speedway but the speedway has a new promoter in place. We will work closely with the new promoter and see if we cant get those folks involved again for all our fans who had hoped for some dirt on our schedule. Overall I'm proud of how hard Charlie ( Hargraves ) worked on putting an entertaining schedule together for our first season". The series will now put its focus and attention on purse and tire details both of which will be released in time for the series participation in the Indy Circle Track Expo Trade Show. The show scheduled for Jan. 31 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianaplois, IN.

Mr. Odell Turner
turnermotorsports99.blogspot.com
Dear Odell,
I spoke with you early in the week in reference to the Rockingham race on New Years Day. The picture posted on your web page of the yellow and white #60 car on its side is of Tyler Speer not Brian Silas.
The driver of the #60 car is Tyler Speer from Woodstock, GA.
This was Tyler’s first time on a super speedway and the first race for this 1972 Chevelle he and his crew built and set up to race. Tyler started young at the age of five racing motocross, then he went to Karts and he has spent the last three seasons racing the Allison Legacy Touring Series. Tyler has finished top ten in the points for the last two seasons in the Allison Legacy series. Tyler just turned 18 year old 10 days prior to this race, making him the youngest driver of the Rockingham race. Tyler had to start last at the back of the pack because his radio harness would not work at the start of the race. Tyler came into the pits at the start of the parade laps to have the harness replaced. As the race began Tyler started at the rear making his way to the front quickly however from the picture posted on your site was involved in this accident early in the race. The #14 car did not clear the #36 which was running in the middle nor the #60 car of Tyler Speer who was on the outside. The #14 car caused the #60 car to actually drive on the wall making him airborne on his side above the wall. Tyler managed to land the car on all four wheels without a scratch on either the left or right side of the car. Tyler could be seen running up and down pit row getting parts to repair the car. Tyler and his crew repaired the car to come back and finish the race in the 33rd position. Thanks to all of my fans who did not give up on me and to my awesome crew for getting the car back out on the track. Please take time to visit my website www.tylerspeer.com I will be updating it soon with pictures from the Rockingham race.
Special Thanks to all of our sponsors:

POSTED 1-7-09 MORE ON THE IOFS SERIES
IOFS INVADES BLUEGRASS STATE IN 2009 Indianapolis, IN - January 6, 2009 - International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) officials today announced a new venue to the already busy 2009 inaugural schedule.Officials announced that the traveling Outlaw Figure 8 series will visit the newly reopened Kentucky Motor Speedway later in the year. The 1/4 high banked asphalt facility near Whitesville, KY is slated for a date yet to be determined. Series Director Charlie Hargraves explains the reason for the TBA date. “Promoter Scott Greer is actually in the process of making some changes to the track. He doesn't think the Figure 8 track will be finished until mid season. With that being said we both agreed a fall date would be best and once he sees how he is progressing with the changes we should be able to finalize an actual date at KMS"stated Hargraves”.Kentucky Motor Speedway opened in 1960 but it wasn't until 1981 that a Figure 8 course was installed. The track was closed after the 2004 season and has set idle until Greer took over promotional duties in late 2008. A single event was held in November. As it stands now the newly formed IOFS series now has four speedways in two states with this latest announcement. In addition to KMS the series will visit Indiana speedways in Plymouth, Montpelier, and Anderson. IOFS officials are shooting for Januar y 31 as the date the entire schedule should be finalized. The IOFS will participating in the Indy Circle Track Expo Trade Show Jan. 31 at which time the chosen tire will be announced. For info on the IOFS go to http://www.figure8news.com until the launch of the series website. For sponsorship opportunities with IOFS contact Charlie Hargraves at ( 317) 445- 4366 or David Sink at ( 765 ) 278-8231.For more info on the Indy Circle Track Expo go to http://www.shoestringracing.com

POSTED 1-5-09 WINNER OF THE FIRST GIVE-A-WAY FROM THE ODELL TURNER SHOW IN 2009
The first Odell Turner Show for 2009 started with a question. With the right answer from the first caller you would win a free 8 x 10 of the fiery crash of #5 Open Wheel driver Ricky Sanford. The question was what year did Dallas Jones and the Jones family open the circle track for stock car racing? I got a bunch of calls and heard 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986 and also got 1985 more than once, which was the correct answer. The first caller with the correct answer of 1985 was Sarah Jo White of Richardsville, KY. Sarah, your photo is on it's way. Congratulations to Sarah Jo and thanks to all the other callers. Keep watching our show to win more prizes. Again, thanks to everyone. Odell Turner
POSTED 1-5-09 MAKE PLANS TO WATCH THE SHOW TONIGHT!
The Odell and Billy Show has come to an end. The show had great guest and some great times in 2008. Unfortunately, Billy Grider my partner had some changes at his day time job and has not been able to be on the show for the last several weeks. Billy and I talked and he has decided that he can not make the show in 2009. However if things change, hopeful Billy can set in on some shows in 2009. I know it was not what Billy wanted to do and certainly I didn't. I know first hand how this job thing is because I lost my job after 15 years in the coffee industry due to CUT BACKS! Anyway we are going to go on as "The Odell Turner Show". Tonight our special guest will be track official, Gary Dalton. Next Monday night will be Brad Janes of The Turn or Burn Motorsports Group. Be sure to tune in tonight on Insight Cable Channel 5 at 7:30 p.m.

POSTED 1-1-09 SELECTED QUOTES - POLAR BEAR 150
January 1, 2009
JD Frey (No. 17 Chevy Camaro) finished 36th
“We just got hit in the back on the restart. Our day was good. The car was good, we were just sitting back waiting for the end of this deal to be here at the end and got wrecked.”
Anthony White (No. 22 Chevy Monte Carlo) finished 2nd
“I race dirt all the time. When it got loose, I didn’t know you could skate the tires like that. We came back in with about 60 to go and fell back to about 20th. We just kept plugging along.”
On Rockingham, “I love this place. I’d like to come back tomorrow.”
Clint Watkins (#91) finished 5th
“Had a long day. Had to bite down on some restarts. I messed myself up on that last restart, spun the tires. Got a little excited, my bad, let some of those guys get by me. Fourth place, we’ll take it. Not bad for a bunch of ol’ country boys who built this thing in our basements. I had a lot of fun and hope to be able to do it again.”
Brian Silas (No. 57 Chevy Monte Carlo) finished 39th
“I’m not excatly sure happened. I felt grip until almost when I came out of the corner. I’m not sure if someone tapped me in the left rear. I felt even with that, I don’t think that was it. I saved it the first time. The second time I felt like I had no grip in the corner. After that I knew it was going to be painful. Thank God I’m alright. I’m glad the guys built a good car. I don’t think if it was one of those other teams it would have held up. We were having a good day before the wreck. I had no idea where we were running but I was having fun. I want to thank everyone who got me here.”
Chuck Barnes, Sr. (Chevy Monte Carlo) Race Winner
“Everything was great. Real nice place, set up real good. Couldn’t ask for a better place to race. We were in second, third or first until the break, came in and changed tires, the guys did a little bit of changing on it and we came back out and got out front and stayed there. We had planned on taking it easy the first 75 laps and come in and make some changes and go from there. We changed tires, some pressures, a sway bar. My son, Chuck Barnes Jr., is the crew chief and he decided on the changes. The car was loose going in, in the middle and coming off (in the first half). We tightened it up a little - it was still loose going in, but tight coming off.
The 00 car was the most competitive one out there. Something happened to his engine there at the end. Had it not happened, it would have been real close there at the end.
I’ve been racing about 30 years. I am trying to cut back to some of the bigger races. Maybe one or two a year. This win is one of the top of my career. This is the best place we’ve been to.”

POSTED 1-1-09 UPDATE FROM ROCKINGHAM
Barnes Wins the Polar Bear 150
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (January 1, 2009) – After practice yesterday, Brett Hudson made the bold statement that he and Chuck Barnes, Sr. were going to be the class of the field come race time.
He was right. The two dominated for most of Thursday afternoon, trading the lead back and forth through a myriad of cautions.
Unfortunately for Hudson, Barnes’ luck held as the laps wound down. Hudson’s did not. Barnes, who started from the R.A. Jeffrey’s Distributing Company pole, took advantage of blown engine in Hudson’s Chevy Monte Carlo with ten laps to go to take the checkered flag in the inaugural Polar Bear 150 at the Rockingham Speedway Thursday afternoon.
“We definitely had something for them at the end,” said Hudson. “I knew we had a problem on the last caution, the water pressure was up and down. I was hoping it would hold until the end.”
Hudson finished 32nd.
“We were in second, third or first until the break,” said Barnes of Louisville, KY in victory lane. “We came in and changed tires and the guys did a little bit of changing on it and we came back out and got out front and stayed there.
“We had planned on taking it easy the first 75 laps and come in and make some changes and go from there. The 00 car (Hudson) was the most competitive one out there. Something happened to his engine there at the end. Had it not happened, it would have been real close there at the end.”
Clinton, Indiana’s Anthony White, the NASCAR Technical Institute’s Hard Charger of the race award winner, finished second in his first start on a paved track.
Rounding out the top-five were Clint Watkins of Maggie Valley, NC and Bonaire, Georgia’s Tim Jensen and Tony Conway of Louisville, KY.
J.D. Frey, a mechanic for Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing’s Sprint Cup team, whose entry was owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., ran with the leaders most of the day, only to be caught up in a late-race accident.
“Our day was good,” said a dejected Frey. “The car was good, we were just sitting back waiting for the end of this deal to be here at the end and got wrecked.”
Frey wasn’t the only one who had his day end in an on-track incident. Brian Silas, who also competed in last year’s ARCA/Remax Carolina 500 and Hooter’s ProCup American 200 at the Rockingham Speedway, tumbled coming out of turn four, collecting the barriers at the entrance to pit road and destroying his Monte Carlo.
““I’m not exactly sure happened,” said Silas. “I felt grip until I was almost out of the corner. I’m not sure if someone tapped me in the left rear. I felt even with that, that wasn’t what it was. I saved it the first time. The second time I felt like I had no grip in the corner. After that I knew it was going to be painful.”
Despite the hard end to his day, Silas plans to return with the ARCA/Remax Series for the second annual Carolina 200 on April 18 and 19, 2009.
