POSTED 6/14/07 BOBBY WHITE, TECH MAN AT BBR CLEARS UP THE RICKY DICKENS #28 CAR BEING LITE STORY.
Bobby White, Tech man for Beech Bend Raceway, called my house to clear up a incident. Bobby read some of your post on this site, and one was about Ricky Dickens driver of the #28 Figure-8 car. As you may very well already know, Ricky was disqualified Friday night for being 100 pounds lite after the race. Bobby said that earlier on, the scales had been weighting wrong but have been fixed. Bobby also said that 2 cars previously to Ricky weighted in and were OK on weight. So the scales were OK according to Bobby. Bobby also said that it is up to each driver to weight his car and know what it weights before going on the scales. Remember also, that if you are close on weight, don't forget about fuel burn off. Thanks Bobby for clearing this story up.

FROM RICKY
IT IS TRUE THAT AS A DRIVER I HAVE A RESPONSABILITY TO MAKE SURE MY CAR WEIGHS IN AT THE REQUIRED WEIGHT. THAT IS WHY I TOOK MY CARS ACROSS THE SCALES AND ADDED THE WEIGHTED THAT I WAS TOLD TO. AFTER THAT POINT I FELT THAT I HAD NO OTHER REASON TO WEIGH BECAUSE I DID AS I WAS TOLD. IT IS NOT MY RESPONSABILITY TO MAKE SURE BBR'S SCALES ARE WORKING CORRECTLY. AS TRACK TECH'S THAT IS YOUR JOB. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE DIFFERENT IF THE DRIVERS WERE NOTIFIED THAT YOU WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SCALES INSTEAD OF SLAPPING IT IN SOMEONE'S FACE. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THE RULES BUT ALSO WANT MY POINT AS A DRIVER TO GET ACROSS.
