POSTED 4/28/07 GLASS-YOUNG WRECK?
Modified Street had a lot of racing action. Tony Rothe won in his #44 Chevy, but Jimmy Glass in his #2 Chevy and Daniel Young in his #9 Chevy had a wreck on the back stretch. I didn't see this happen but talked to a lot of people and was told that Jimmy Glass #2 was apparently making a turn right off the track on the back stretch and slowed. Young was running in the third spot and was up at speed and had no time to slow or stop. Young hit Glass and spun him around to which the rear of Jimmy's #2 chevy came to rest on the outside retaining wall. The #2 Chevy had some heavy damage. Jimmy showed his displeasure with Young's driving by waving his fist at Daniel Young. Daniel continued on and finished second. (This is my opinion: If Jimmy was indeed turning off the track from the back stretch and not going to the center of the track where you are to go if you need to exit the track then I think Daniel was not at fault. Jimmy has raced for years and knows you do not exit from the track during a race or practice without going to the middle and waiting until the race is over. However we all make mistakes. Remember this is only my opinion and you are invited to send you input on this or any other matter.)

There were some people sitting behind me that were yelling to take Daniel off the track. I am not a racer, but I have never saw anyone turn off the track during a full speed race like that. I think it is the beginning of the year and Glass must have had a brain fart or something.
WAY TO GO TONY!!!!YOU LOOKED GOOD OUT THERE....as for the wreck i will have to agree he must have had a brain fart.duh
well as for the wreck i think it was all Glass........daniel was in 3rd nobody in 3rd would let up we all wanna win guys
as far as i am concerned jimmy has been racing at the bend for years and knows that you go to the middle of the track before exiting. i guess he either had a brain fart (but you have to have a brain to do that) or he is just that stupid. the wreck was all his fault and daniel just got to him to quick and didn't have time to avoid him.
BRAIN FART I DONT THING HE HAS A BRAIN
Dallas needs to do something about exiting the race track. That has happened several times. It happened to me once in practice and cost me thousands!!!
QUESTION: WHAT MORE CAN DALLAS OR ANYONE ELSE DO ABOUT EXITING THE TRACK????? IT IS CLEARLY STATED AND ONLY COMMON SENSE THAT YOU ENTER INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE TRACK AND (WAIT) UNTIL YOU CAN (SAFELY) EXIT!!! THERE IS NOTHING HARD ABOUT THAT. YOU DO NOT DECIDE THE EXIT THE TRACK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE BACK STRETCH...YOU CAN'T PUT THE SIGNAL ON AND MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN...IT JUST DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS TO THE SOLUTION OF JIMMY GLASS MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE????
I talked to Jimmy Glass today and he said that his car quit running down the back stretch and he was trying to get out of the way. So you may want to ease up a little on Jimmy.
I'm sorry that I said that. I know we all make mistakes and we are not perfect.
CAR QUIT RUNNING??? OK, I'LL BUY THAT BUT WHY DID HE AND HIS CREW GET SO UPSET WITH #9? IF HE KNEW THAT HIS CAR QUIT RUNNING AND THERE WAS NOTHING MORE HE COULD HAVE DONE THAN HE SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE #9 COULD HAVE EITHER. SORRY, I JUST GAVE YOU MY 2 CENTS...SO, NO, I'M NOT BUYING IT.
Incidents like this are just the reason you have no cars at Beech Bend. Rules are never inforced, people get away with everything. Yes people make mistakes and things happen, it's part of life. But incidents of this nature are uncalled for. It's pretty sad that this has happened so many times and nothing has been done. What will it take for Dallas to realize? Someone getting killed?? Besides, how many "race tracks" do you go to where u can exit the track in the middle of the back stretch during green conditions? But then again, we are racing on the drag strip parking lot.
I AGREE WITH THE LAST COMMENT.
INCIDENTS LIKE THIS IS WHY BEECH BEND HAS NO CARS? I HAVE RACED AT BEECH BEND FOR MANY YEARS AND ONLY RECALL TWO INCIDENTS THAT INVOLVED A CAR TURNING OFF THE TRACK. YOU TALK LIKE IT HAPPENS ON REGULAR BASES. RULES ARE NEVER INFORCED AT BEECH BEND? YOU TALK LIKE YOU ARE A RACER, BUT I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE RACED AT ANY OTHER TRACK? I HAVE RACED AT SEVERAL OTHER TRACKS AND YOU WANT TO TALK INFORCING RULES! COME ON BE REAL!!! EVEN TONY STEWART SAYS NASCAR DOESN'T ENFORCE RULES CORRECTLY AND EVEN SAID THAT NASCAR WAS ACTING LIKE WRESTLING BY DROPPING THE YELLOW FLAG TO CHANGE THE OUT COME OF THE RACE WINNER. NOBODY SEEMS HAPPY AT ANY LEVEL OF RACING OR TRACK, RIGHT? THEN GET OFF THE BACK OF MY HOME TRACK! I AM PROUD TO RACE AT BEECH BEND. BESIDES WHAT IS DALLAS TO DO ABOUT A DRIVER MAKING A MISTAKE? DALLAS IS NOT RIDING IN THE CAR. BOTH DRIVERS THAT I REMEMBER TURNING OFF THE TRACK HAD MANY, MANY LAPS AROUND THAT TRACK, BUT MADE A MISTAKE. HOW COULD DALLAS STOP THAT DRIVER? AND EVEN IF HE MADE A DIFFERENT PLACE TO EXIT, THERE WOULD BE ANOTHER PROBLEM. IT JUST SOUNDS LIKE TO ME THAT YOU HAVE HAD A RUN IN WITH DALLAS OR SOMEONE AT THIS TRACK. BY THE WAY YOU DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS AND SO DO I.
I have raced at Beech Bend, and the same incident has happened with me at Beech Bend. It happened with me (Michael King) and William Johnson in 2004. Willy had made many laps around that track just as I had. And this type of incident happens about once every year and a half. Unfortunate things happen on the track each year I just beleive that this unfortunate thing could be prevented. And by the way, I have raced at more tracks than one, and It is the only track I have been too and seen any incidents of this nature accur.
IN RESPOSE TO MICHAEL KING...
IT IS NOT DALLAS' FAULT OR BEECH BENDS FAULT THAT YOU OR ANYONE ELSE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHILE TRYING TO EXIT THE TRACK. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT IT HAS HAPPENED BUT AS I HAVE STATED BEFORE...HOW CAN YOU OR ANYONE ELSE PUT THE BLAME ON SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO PULL INTO THE CENTER OF THE TRACK AND "WAIT" UNTIL YOU A CAN "SAFELY" EXIT. YOU MADE THE DECISION TO TRY TO PULL OFF THE TRACK WHILE A CAR (OR CARS) WHERE GOING DOWN THE BACKSTRETCH. NO ONE MADE YOU DO IT...YOU DONE IT! I AM SURE THAT WILLIE DID NOT INTEND TO HIT YOU BUT IT HAPPENED. I DON'T CARE HOW MANY TRACKS YOU HAVE BEEN TOO...DO THEY GIVE YOU THE CHOICE TO EXIT THE TRACK WHILE CARS ARE ON IT? IF NOT THAT COULD BE WHY IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED THERE. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET REAL...HOW CAN THIS BE DALLAS' OR ANYONE ELSE (EXCEPT THE DRIVERS) FAULT?
