POSTED 3-23-08 THE WKU HILLTOPPERS WIN TODAY IN THE NCAA AND MOVE ON TO THE SWEET 16

Ty Rogers #5 Shoots a last second three pointer to takes us on to play in final 32 teams of the NCAA. Today the HILLTOPPERS took on San Diego at Tampa, Fla. and won that game. Now WKU HILLTOPPERS will advance to the sweet 16. WKU HILLTOPPERS will now go to Phoenix, AZ. to play #1 seed UCLA this Thursday. Congratulations and Good Luck Darrin Horn and the WKU HILLTOPPERS!

POSTED 3-23-08 JASON DICKENS TURNS HIS FIRST LAPS EVER AT BEECH BEND RACEWAY DURING TEST AND TUNE

Let's play a little game here. I will say one word and you say what comes to your mind. OK? Dickens! You probably said, Doodle, Kevin or Ricky, Right? Hey, let me tell you as the rock group The Eagles sang the song "There's a new Kid in Town" and so there is. Ricky and Diane Dickens youngest son Jason Dickens had never drove a stock car of any kind until Saturday at Beech Bend Raceway's test and tune. Jason hopped in the #28 and turn some laps on the oval track and did a very good job I might add. Jason will run the oval track in Modified Street class in 2008 as a rookie. Good Job Jason!

13 year old Mason Mingus in his #6 Team Construction, LLC sponsored Ford. Mason will race in the MMRA Baby Grand Junior Pro Division in 2008. He moved up from racing Future Star Mini-Cup Series in 2007. Good Luck Mason!

A camo colored car? Yes, it is the sportsman car of driver Robert Cohron in his #46 Chevy. I have never seen a car with this type of paint. But wait, this isn't paint, it is a wrap made of a vinyl. All Robert needs now is for Gander Mtn. to sponsor his car. Cool looking car. In this photo, Robert is in his car waiting to go out on the track during the 2008 test and tune Saturday and his car owner (Dad) Jerry is giving him last minute advice. Good Luck Robert!

POSTED 3-23-08 KEVIN DICKENS NEW FIGURE-8 CAR FOR 2008

What is this? Another wing car? Yes, it is. Kevin Dickens #96 and son of 2007 figure-8 champion Ricky Dickens. I didn't get to talk to Kevin at test and tune Saturday but I did see him having a lot of smoke coming from his engine and I saw him load his car up early. I hope it was nothing bad. POSTED 3-23-08 BLAKE FIELDS MAKES HIS RETURN TO BEECH BEND FOR 2008 SEASON

Blake Fields returns to Beech Bend Raceway after a brief time off. Blake won many races in the Front Runner class a few years ago. The question is can he do it again in the 2008 season? I talked to Blake and he thinks the car still has it and so does he. He also said that he was just going to try and see what would happen. I ask him if he was going to run for a Championship in 2008 and he said maybe. I think if he runs well he will and if it doesn't do that good he will only run off and on. This is only my opinion from talking to Blake. Good Luck Blake!

POSTED 3-23-08 RITA CLINE RACING TO WIN IN MODIFIED STREET CLASS

Modified Street Driver #69 Rita Cline. Rita raced this car for the first time last year in the 2007 season. She did a good job, but as you may know it takes time to set up a brand new car. I talked to Rita at test and tune Saturday and she thinks they have changed enough things to make the car really good. I think you will see Rita in Victory Lane in 2008 and maybe a Championship too. One thing is for sure, she is the best looking driver in the Modified street class. Rita is the only woman to race in that class. Good Luck Rita!

Bad luck for 2007 Figure-8 Champion at Beech Bend Raceway on Saturday's test and tune. Ricky Dickens # 28 blowed an engine late in practice. I hope Ricky can get his engine back together before April 4th for the opening of 2008 season. New Open Wheel car at Beech Bend Raceway for test and tune. This car is owned by Bobby White and the driver is his grandson Blake "THE SNAKE" White. Blake has raced go-carts and other type's of racing but never raced in a car at Beech Bend. I talked to Blake and he loved the feeling of being in a fast car at Beech Bend. He did say that it was so much different than watching from the stands. Also, this car is for sale. Contact Bobby White. POSTED 3-22-08 DANNY MARR HAS A SMALL WRECK AT TEST AND TUNE

Modified Street Driver # 11 Danny Marr came to Beech Bend Raceway Saturday for test and tune with his car looking sharpe (See photo at top) but as you test on a green track that has laid there all winter long with no rubber laid down it makes for a slick track. Danny didn't go back home with the same sharpe looking car. I didn't see what happen but it looks like he back her into the wall. (See photo below). I did see the car and it looks like Danny can get it fixed before first race on April 4th. Good Luck Danny!

This picture was given to a friend of mine by Buck's wife Glorianna Cherry Hawks. I was told the picture was taken July 4, 1968 just before he was killed in the figure-8 at Beech Bend. His name was Irvin Leroy "Buck" Cherry.

Billy and I were at Beech Bend Raceway today (Saturday 3-16-08) for the TENN-TUCK BRACKET BASH DRAGS. This car above was the Preacher and he is the Chaplin for the TENN-TUCK SERIES and also a drag racer too. Be sure to watch our show every Monday night at 7:30 p.m. but be sure to tune in next Monday 3-24-08 for clips of the drags plus interviews with many of the drivers.
